    Hey Guys,

I've looked at all the threads on taking the 360 F1 control unit apart. Everyone says the PCB board just pops out with the release of the black clips once the screws are out.

    I'm having no such luck.

I have taken out all the screws and have the clips pressed out of the way.

But this sucker doesn't want to come out.

Am I missing something? I took one apart a few years ago and don't remember having this much trouble. I think that one had the broken bar.

The customer is swapping the standard plate for one I loaned him to chrome. He couldn't get it apart and so he sent it to me. Now I'm stuck! He's going to take it to the dealer if I can't get it apart. So I'm hoping he doesn't have to do it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is that the Reverse switch you are talking about? Can't tell from your photo but it looks a bit like it. I replaced the lever on my 360 reverse switch and had to disassemble the switch unit to get to the reverse lever. If this is what you referring to, a fellow FChatter, Netman, wrote up instructions ...

1 remove four screws that hold the lever mechanism in the console
2 disconnect the wire harness connector
3 remove the cover plate on the bottom of the unit by expanding the compression clips. There are 8 of them
4 you will see a hole in the center of the PCB. Remove the Phillips head screw at the base of the hole. No need to remove the 3 black screws.
5 cut a wire hanger into 4 pieces 3 inches long.
6 use a pick to elevate the snap clip under the aluminum facial while sliding a piece of the wire hanger underneath to prevent the clip from clamping back down. You will perform this step 4 times. Once on each side.
7 lift the aluminum facia from the blacklastic body.
8 turn the aluminum upside down so the reverse lever is in a upside down position
9 notice the small flat head screw. Remove to release the lever bar from the lever
10 be sure to account for and clear the broken tabs from the mechanism
11 insert the new part into the mechanism and screw the lever to the lever bar
12 insert the aluminum facia back into the black plastic body. Take care to align the parts
13 remove the hanger wire preventing he clamps from closing
14 replace and tighten the center screw
    15 confirm mechanical operation
    16 reinstall in your car
17 take a moment to appreciate your work and the fact you saved 3k
18 start the car and confirm operation by selecting reverse
    19 enjoy your car

    Hope this helps.

    Steve
