Well, I want a Ferrari driver to win.
I really like Massa but sometimes he seems a bit lost. I appreciate his skills and have supported him onboard through thick and thin. Thought he did a great job yesterday and except for not being able to handle Kubica, wish he was consistently as aggressive as he was yesterday. He was on a mission.
I never liked Kimi much but he is growing on me. Although I apprecaite his skills and am digging his resurgance. We were at the Ozzie GP this year and it was unbelievable how much pace he had on the field. At that point I fully expected him to run away with the championship.
Although I want Ferrari to win, I find LH the most engaging, most fun and most likable of all. I love the idea of new blood coming in and shaking things up so thoroughly. I love his driving style and fearlessness and admire how he is standing up the immense pressure of being the "new" phenom, to say nothing of the racial card and all it brings with it, good and bad. Quite a fine young man it seems.
And I know for sure that, while I admire FA's driving prowess, I just dont like the guy and would like to see the other 3 as well as Kubica best him in points. Unlikely but I can hope!
No real direction here, just putting out my thoughts to hear where others are at and why.

I would love more competition. Great to see BMW getting close, just not close enough. Imagine if Toyota, Renault and Honda finally got their acts together, and there were no less than 5 teams legitimately competing for points, THAT is where I want the sport to go.

Is that not where it is now?

Ferrari & McLaren are fighting for wins... and there seems to be no clear driver with any dominance... you have 4 guys who can win in any given race!!! its been a long time since that has happend in F-1... then you have BMW & Renault...& Williams duking it out for 3rd & 4th.... 5th

Honda & Toyota, Spyker, STR, Red Bull... are making up the rest of the field... neither of them are spectacular... but Super Aguri is actually beating a lot of these other teams... Honda & Toyota should be ashamed ... but I also worry that they will leave ... whould not be good for that either...

I think this is about all you can hope for... Except for Hamilton, none of the drivers have a compelling persona... so at least we have some real competition now!

I hope nobody starts the no passing in F-1... look at Massa... from last to 5th.. He did it by passing people!! all freaking day long!!!!

I was tinking that F-1 was really just at the end... but its actually been a pretty good season...I really dont know who will win the Championship... as much as I dislike McLaren... I would like to see Hamilton win!!! if not him, then Massa! Kimi still has to grow on me.... so I will cheer for Massa.

Ferrari wants KR to win the champ. So Massa will ultimately have to pay the price.

I hate to say it, but stalling on the grid yesterday will only cement the impression many have that FM can only ever be a #2 driver. So much of F1 is taking advatange of opprtunties when you can, and making sure that you don't make critical errors at critical times. Ferrari could have finished 1-2 yesterday. As it stands now, at the halfway point of the season, Ferrari's drivers have failed to score points in two races. Let's hope that McLaren does the same, or worse, in the remaining races. If KR is truly asserting himself now that thecar suits him, then FM will have no choice but to take on a Rubens Barichello role...

Everyone seems to forget that he also won 2 races in a row. Now that Kimi has won 2, Massa is trash. What happens if Massa wins the next 2 and Kimi has some bad luck? What then?

Todt absolved Massa of any responsibility for the stall that left him to start the British Grand Prix from the pit lane.

"When Felipe went to the grid, he informed us by radio that finishing the burn-out the engine stalled," he explained

Kimi has 3 races won now, I'm hoping for him to win the WDC.It's good that now there's more competition among drivers, but it has to be Ferrari, I don't care how good or charismatic Hamilton is. And as for Fernando Alonso, he seems to be turning into a Rubens Barrichelo, complaining about everything. They both have the same cars, get on with the business!

A big dilemma at Mac is having Alonso taking points away from Hamilton.
If Ron lets them race, then Hamilton could be losing 2 extra points, which is great for Kimi (or Massa).

+1...I'm enjoying this season also, and if Stepneygate ends without any damage to the WDC or CC, then I'll be even happier.

I share the same sentiments as the OP. I'll cheer for Ferrari all day long, either driver, as they both are making great contributions. But it sure is hard not to be impressed with Hamilton.

I'm loving this season--four extremely competitive driver/car combinations (KR, FM, LH, FA) and two others very close (RK, NH). Modern F1 rarely gets this exciting. As far as the British GP goes, KR and FM were both brilliant, LH made an obvious mistake but was off pace anyway, and FA just didn't have the car under him that he needed, as he admitted. You've got KR with the most wins yet LH and FA with more consistency.

With competition this close, the final winner is also going to need some L-U-C-K.

This is going to be a dog fight 'til the end--lots more racing and intrigue...like I said, I'm loving it.

Don't think we should overlook Kubica either. Damn, can you imagine the issues hitting a wall at that speed, regardless of safety equipment, would cause??
Very big ones on that boy imo to come back so strong and be driving so well. I feel he could very well be in the mix soon if BMW can just get a bit more car for him.

It has been great to see 4 very capable drivers with 2 capable teams and cars battling it out. I hope it continues like this rest of the year. It seems that Ferrari has had a few misfortunes and less than ideal reliability and McLaren has had not had the best strategy to extend their current lead.

I would be very happy for either Ferrari drivers to win the championship...i believe in what Kimi can do and has had a fond spot for Massa over the past years and know that he can very well get it all together to win it.

I liked the Schumy/Hakkinan battles as I like Mika as well. So it is working good for me to see someone like Hamilton, a rookie put up a great drive fighting for the championship.

    Fun season!

I love that we're having MORE competition than we're used to, but it's still only between two teams. My original post was a best-case scenario; I'd like to see MORE teams competing for WINS than just for "best-of-the-rest." The competition this year is great; more of it would make even more thrilling!
