F1 Italian Grand Prix: Pirelli issues quit ultimatum over testing ban

F1 News - F1 Italian Grand Prix: Pirelli issues quit ultimatum over testing ban

Paul Hembery: We cannot continue in a scenario where we can't do our work. Without a testing programme we won't be able to stay in the sport.
Paul Hembery says Pirelli is setting a 'condition' that it must be permitted opportunities to test its tyres in preparation for the proposed 2017 change in technical regulations, or it will walk away from Formula 1.

Frankly a requirement that should be granted. With the lack of testing the drivers should also be a bit more sympathetic to Pirelli. Again Vettel was wrong to have been so quick and emotional on camera. No testing yields exactly the situation we face. FIA fails again....

So according to Pirelli everything is under control but they need more testing.

So Pirelli has not everything under control.

    Uh-oh.

The drivers are also not allowed to criticise their teams or sponsors in public and Pirelli is a partner so how is this any different?

They already had at least one older chassis to use for testing. Why not do it themselves?

Might as well let robots drive the car, if drivers are only allowed to repeat pre-practiced scripts.

Testing is common sense, I think anyone here agrees that lifting the testing ban, especially for safety reasons like 'do the tyres work' is essential, otherwise the sports a joke. However, I don't think Pirelli should be allowed to 'gag' the customers using their tyres if they make a crap product. Don't want feedback, make the tyres work, and know your product (don't say they will last 40 laps if there are structural reasons they can't cope, whether by simple wear, or susceptibility to damage, and will only really be trusted at half that). In business if you get it wrong, you can't claim secrecy

Frankly, i dont even know why are they in F1. Allowing themselves to be bashes like this, over things that are not their fault.

Wait... If they make defective tires it's not their fault?

Not that. Partially, Bernie has to shoulder the blame. They are making tyres based on the specifications given. Then they are not allowed to test. So whose fault is this?
