    Has anyone experienced this?

Car seems to drive totally fine, but suddenly when I flick the box into Reverse, the Gearbox warning light comes on after about 5 seconds, and if I try to push the stick into drive mode, gear does not engage, I need to use the paddles. Once in gear, the light turns itself off.

    Thoughts?

Lets assume its your 575SA : could be loose in the gear lever - do you have to clearly lift up to get into reverse ?

They are notorious for breaking the little pins that make you lift creating a little vagueness which causes the light to come on

Also can occur coming out of reverse if lever is not far enough forward

Sometimes a little tightening of the mechanism helps

Permanent fix is the Hills lever that Ricambi supply import

Sorry should have mentioned its the SA.

Do you think its safe to drive like this? Or is this something that needs to be fixed asap? TIA

My take is there are enough lock-out systems that if it is just a little wear in the lever and it still lets you drive then that is fine

Usual disclaimers apply ie I'm not a mechanic / DYOR / etc etc

Get the Ricambi part and search for a thread in which I detailed how to swap the lever. Took me about an hour in total.

Just to update this a little we now know the 575SA uses a different lever assembly to the 360/575 but I suspect its the same as the 612

Yeah, the good folks at Ricambi told me its a different part and even took a pic of the two side by side. Unfortunately, there is no similar part for the SA or 612 gearbox. I know USA will only sell the entire assembly, at a cost of ~$3500 which I would rather not buy. Wonder if anyone else here has any experience or tips? Until then, i'll be on a lookout for a pull on ebay and elsewhere.
