GP3 race was run almost entirely behind the SC. 2 big crashes, including one by this beauty. Hope she'll be ok... Double podium by the lotus team, hope a sign for more things to come! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Red Bull, Alonso and I'm sure Schumacher are on wet setups. Mclaren inbetween? Raikkonen said he was hoping for a dry race indicating he should be on a dry setup. If anything, I'd say Kimi as a damn good shot at winning, if he can get passed Maldonado without being launched into the old forest section.
bas, at silverstone some say mclaren are on wet setup but they are slow even on dry with weather forecast to be clear on raceday don't think anyone risk a wet setup just for grid position but rather the car characteristic and driver the factor but what do i know anyway
Lotus GP win in GP2, from pole. Guetierez started 12th I think and finished 5th. Few bumps/crashes at the hairpin, and a huge one entering the stadium section...either something broke or Serenelli fell asleep as the car barely braked and turned...!
I've no idea. We can hope the Mclarens are slow . I think it was 50/50 the forecast for today, yesterday. So could have been a gamble worth taking. The lotus is quick in hotter temperatures and it doesn't seem bad atm, so I hope Kimi gets a podium at least! and MSC of course...
The FIA Technical Delegate Jo Bauer reported that having examinded the engine torque map of cars 1 and 2 it became apparent that the maximum torque output of both engines is significantly less in the mid rpm range than previously seen for these engines at other events. He went on in my opinion this is therefore in breach of Article 5.5.3 of the Technical regulations as the engines are able to deliver more torque at a given engine speed in the mid rpm range. Furthermore this new torque map will artificially alter the aerodynamic characteristics of both cars which is also in contravention of TD 036-11.
It appears so, we will have to wait and see what the repercussions are, it's in the hands of the FIA Stewards.
Here 50km north of Hockenheim it's sunny, but a lot of dark clouds... I wouldn't be surprised if we had a 15-minute change between rain and sun during the race!
It sounds to Me as though Red Bull have tried to be a bit sneaky and re-introduce a blown diffuser again! (the Autosport site seems to believe this could be the case too): (From: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/101403): "The FIA highlighted that the reduced torque in the mid rpm range on both cars was a breach of the regulations in itself, but also because it could offer an illegal aerodynamic benefit as well. This suggests that the FIA suspects that there could be a benefit related to the exhaust blown diffuser technology that was effectively curbed at the start of the season through a package of regulations that included those covering engine mapping."
My salutations to the Usual Suspects..... . Wonder if this race will hold the record for most pre-race penalties......
I'm wondering if Charlie are going to have Red Bull change their map settings before the race.........
No breach of the rules, thus no penalties for RB, but a clarification of the rule later on to close the loophole - seems like a good solution to me.
