From Planet F1, good for Hamilton. Can't stand Vettle, he's a whiner like Barrichello was.

Racing Fernando Alonso for the lead in Sunday's German GP and trying to keep Jenson Button at bay, Vettel found himself just ahead of Hamilton out on track after the McLaren driver emerged from his second pit stop.

Hamilton, though, was a lap down on the leaders due to a puncture early in the grand prix.

Having better pace than Vettel at the time, the Brit set about unlapping him off the German.

Vettel was not happy with the situation and was seen angrily waving his fist as Hamilton went by.

Later he had a few words to say about it as well.

"That was not nice of Lewis. I don't see why he was racing us," said the 25-year-old.

"If he wants to go fast he should drop back and find a gap. It was stupid as he was a lap down.

"If you want to go quick and you have no chance to win the race you should respect that and use common sense."

Hamilton, though, wasn't too impressed with the German's comments, saying he made the move in a bid not to hamper Button as he closed in on Vettel.

"It doesn't really bother me what he says," Hamilton told the Daily Mirror. "I guess it shows his maturity.

"I don't think I've made any silly decisions throughout the race. I had nothing to gain apart from staying out of the way of my team-mate.

"I never give up, so I'm not going to back off and let everyone past me when I've got the pace to go past the guy in front."

Me too. It will be a RB or McL victory. Hope fred can podium though.

From a euro-crisis prospective, I find it ironic that a Spanish driver in an Italian car with input from a Greek aerodynamicist won the German GP.

The reason is the pricing. The only spots which are halfway affordable are horrible, you can't see anythign there. In the Motodrom it's starting at a few hundred Euros a seat. That's crazy!

Alonso drove like a master. He knew where his weakness was (the DRS zone) and planned each lap seemingly for that area. His car was magic in any area where passing was a real opportunity despite the fact that it was a slower car than those following him. I can't recall a race where a person following a driver has been within the DRS range for 30-40 laps and couldn't get around the car in front. This guy is at the top of his game, and the top of his game makes him the best in the world hands-down if you ask me.

While Vettel did go to the outside of the track to get around Button, I couldn't believe how much button seemed to roll over for Vettel when he attempted a pass. It looked like Button got on the brakes early, and then completely screwed up corner exit with a rolling burnout. I'm not so sure we would have seen that pass happen so easily if Lewis was in that spot and not Button.

I'm not so sure I agree that the Ferrari is the fastest car out there right now. By all means they have the fastest driver, but their pace wasn't any faster than anyone else at this race. They just had the right guy behind the wheel to make it happen. It's certainly not as slow as it looks when Massa is driving it (although in his defense he has looked better as of late), but I still think RBR has the quickest car.

On the Hammy v Vettel "incident", I have no problem with what Hammy did. You keep pushing your hardest until the very end and never give up hope.

    Worked for Ernie Els yesterday....

Just make sure to ask to retire a few laps into the race because of a flat though.

I absolutely agree. As I was watching, I was thinking "Is he really that aware of how to position his car AND the car behind him?"

And as the race unfolded, I realized that he was using his own DRS activation zone very well.

Good point, and I got a kick out of Hammy calling Vettel "immature"...still the WDC is a marathon, not a sprint, and Alonso today is saying that his lead in the WDC means "nothing"-and he is right.

I think he was thinking about unnecessary gearbox and engine wear, for which in that sense he was right, he knew his race was cooked.

However it turned out he did play a part, I'll admit I like a driver that never gives up, but thinking about it long term engine/gearbox saving is all part of it.

    Well, that too ;)
And garage the car later for "strategic" reasons.

Expecting any competitor, much less Lewis himself, to give it less than their all is foolish.

I think Sebastien's penalty was too harsh. He should have been docked one place and that would have been fair. 20 secs is too harsh

He's Hamilton. He realized the chances of him winning were next to none so he didn't care to keep going. I don't mind him, but the dude does whine quite a bit on the radio and this is not the first time he's suggested retiring because the odds were stacked against him.

The team was smart. Keep him out in case something insane happens that allows him to catch up (not a bad idea considering how strange this season has been). If it doesn't work out, "retire" him due to a "gearbox" problem later in the race and avoid a penalty for changing the transmission. I think just about anyone could have called that one. lol

He should have been more curtious. He had NO right to push vettel wide, since he was 16th and vettel challenging for the podium 1/2/3. Had he gone round the outside, no problemo with unlapping oneself.
So did I. Pot meet kettle.

I think he was doing a favor to both his teammate and the WDC leader. He even sems to acknowledge he was 'staying out of his teammate's way' and that was his primary concerns.

A good teammate will stick his neck out when he relizes his race is doomed. I recall Webber doing that for Vettel a couple of times last year (actually, he just made passing tough for Seb's pursuers)

20 seconds is one drive-through penalty; we have seen some who thought there ought to have been no penalty which is a different question, but a 20 sec drive-through seems to me very fair.

I also agree those 3, old-generation and out-of-place commentators should go. They look terrible too.

Couldn't see the race because the Fox signal was messed up the entire time, and didn't want to see it after watching all the highligts on Speed's after-race report. But on that pass, Button even went off track with the left wheels, so don't know why anybody don't call that driving Vettel off the road, but whatever. He was already next to Button before the curve, so the off-road pass should have been justified IMO. But demoting him to 5th was definitely not deserved, in my view. The better news is Alonso winning again. Ferrari needs anything other than 'F1 constructors world champion 2008' on the freaking dash. Looks ridiculous on 2013 cars :D. Good day gang.

Agree about the second part, and of course he was doing button a favour. Not sure about Alonso though, why would want to extent Alonso's lead even more over himself?
