Let's hope they do it again, if it brings hambone bad luck
Not really. Just a poor attempt at an excuse to exonerate Kimis latest dropped ball incident. It's game over for the lad. Time to pension him off to.... Williams!
To be fair his wheels did go off into the grass/dirt. Wouldn't mind him at Williams. Not many have driven at Ferrari, Mclaren, Lotus and Williams have they?
I think, Kimi is just there because he's Kimi. Given how bad some of his performances has been, i think he would have been booted out if he were just a regular other driver. From our point of view, it does look like a mechanical failure or some sort. But Kimster himself said nothing went wrong with the car, which meant it was probably a driver error. I'm not sure if it could be a potential software mapping issue or some sort. However, i think Kimi needs to urgently stop making rookie mistakes if he wants to drive for the Scuderia next season or heck...be in F1 next season. Lots of younger cheaper drivers out there who can score his type of results are waiting in the wings. Imagine if this was Massa...how much flak he would have gotten.
Thank you! Those were early days though at Williams though, I'm certain you remember Frank's squad as one of many minnows struggling upstream prior to Saudia. Ickx would have had his work cut out at the time. Wish I had been able to see him compete, he has quite the resume to say the least, loved his LeMans amble....
I was a big fan of his in F1: unfortunate timing of move the Lotus; then Frank with the Hesketh 308C, a difficult car and a difficult period within the team. The Ensign had potential though a shoe string budget and not a very strong chassis, I saw his unfortunate accident at Watkins Glen which essentially ended his F1 career. I forgot that he drove for Ligier as well. Fantastic rain driver.
According to the records, Jacky Ickx drove in no less than 9 factory teams! Cooper Ferrari Brabham McLaren Williams Lotus Wolf Ensign Ligier That must be a record.
Vettel said this weekend he wants him to stay on...We'll see. He made some good points: He had a fantastic 4 years and then last year it all fell apart and the press/fans ridiculed him to a certain point.
