Is it impossible to conduct a formula one weekend with out red flags?? This sport which I’ve watched for over 40 years, has gone so far down hill, it’s almost indescribable. Not only are the cars just glorified simulators, but the technical and rules infringements are so minor, that a practice session can’t even be run without delay after delay. Red flags and race stoppages should be reserved for catastrophic events, not for camera malfunctions, rain sprinkles, or one millimeter pieces of carbon fiber on the track. The owners, managers, regulatory commissions, and broadcasters better get their heads out of their as*ses before this sport goes under. Every weekend is a mash up of delays, political messaging, and garbage commentary by broadcasters. F1 is the poster child for mismanagement.

LOL! It may interest you to know that in SCCA we have "hot tows" which means we are still on the race track racing between yellow zone where the tow truck is hooking up the stricken car. Then the yellow goes down and a white flag flys so we know there is a slow vehicle on track. We are amateurs too the lowest hanging fruit. ..."So simple even a caveman can do it."

That’s why I’ve always loved vintage racing and local events, it’s still run pretty much how it used to be. If a car breaks down or spins out, you go around it, if it rains you deal with it. No one is advocating unsafe racing, but F1 has gone to the absurd.

Imagine the number of flags that would be thrown today for the an incident like this: black/orange, black, yellow, SC, and finally red flag for like 30 minutes to recover the wing, let the rain subside… and to let all the team managers come down from being triggered by the disturbing event:

That’s when you raced through adversity. And don’t you know it’s also when we used to live through adversity. Novel idea.

As though we needed more proof of how bad it’s become, Sky aired this ridiculous broadcast version with Danny Ric and some complete tool commenting through the whole race. It’s a Motorsports series, not a Netflix show. This crap has to stop.

My vote is the people running BTCC run F1 going forward. How did we go from a driver getting in a massive shunt, and running to get in his T car for the remainder of the race, to this steaming pile of dung?
