IMO, the fact that he can't dictate the terms - He doesn't own them, the circuit, or the fan turnout. They're about the only one's left who say, basically, "**** you!".... I'm not saying they're blameless for the current mess, but he said a few years back that traffic was the issue (!) - That got (somewhat) fixed courtesy of the UK taxpayer. He then said it was the "facilities" - They went (some way) to fixing that. I think it's one of the few places left that he doesn't control outright, and he just doesn't like it...... Because they won't give it all to him! - As I said, that pisses him off..... He's only interested in "success" if it lines his pockets. This coming weekend is apparently a sellout - How many of his tracks sellout? +1 and hopefully they'll (the BRDC, FOTA et al) stick to their position. As has been said, interesting times indeed. Cheers, Ian
I hope F1 does die and the real teams take their game somewhere else that isn't controlled by Mernie and their endless and mindless fiddling. Sick and tired of the annual musical chairs game of tracks being on/off the calendar. FOTA can race on classic tracks in Europe and other places and FIA can take their Brawns and Williams and legion of unknown pissant teams to boring Tilke Tracks in Turkey and Zimbabwe or other places no one gives two craps about.
Err - Wrong - Brawn is standing tall with the FOTA and the manufacturers right now. Only Sir Frank and Dr M. have split as of now. I'm disappointed in Sir Frank, but history tells us he's a survivor and will come back into the fold when the time comes....
No F1 is not dead and neither is the economy of the West, but they aren't look too healthy either. Competition does exist.
Correct Ian, and it being more of a case of having to return, and I think the rest of the teams in the FOTA know that.
Damnit! I'd forgotten we're stuck with Fox again for this race. I'll have to stay locked away all Sunday morning - Again.
Worse for me. My niece is being married on Sun Aft. so I'll be watching a Tivo'd tape delay. Double uhg!
