Wondering if anyone else has had this similar symptom on a F430. I bought in November this year a 06 coupe from the dealer CPO. It has been perfect and now its up for sale to buy a 599 or something else.

Returning from the dealer after test drive of another car this happened:

While driving in sport mode manual the car would not shift from 1st to 2nd and would hesitate and shift to first and then neutral displaying a slow down message in the info bank.

Both up shifting and down shifting would cause the same issue. If I let the car shift automatically when stopping no problem but when shifting up no 2nd gear manually the same sequence would occur.

If you allow the system to shift down automatically again no issue shifting up manually if you double shift and skip 2 direct into 3 no issue. If you drive in automatic mode the car shifts and drives regularly with no issues at all.

    Other info:
All service history performed at direct Ferrari service locations, clutch at 15,900 was 85% car is now 17,300 miles.
History shows a service to the clutch fluid - drained and replaced during cpo inspection certification. Previous mention of issue going from 1st to 2nd documented in the service history as follows:

complaint: Client says 2nd gear takes much longer to downshift than the other gears do. upshifts are fine but going from 3rd to 2nd it seems to take longer.

Cause: Syncros in 1st and 2nd and 2nd to 3rd are the strongest due to their job requirements and will take longer to engage on downshifts due to that and rpms.

Correction: no correction made performing to manufactures specs.

Complaint 2: client says that sometimes it is difficult to get the clutch to engage when pulling away for the first time in the morning. check clutch wear.

Cause: found PIS out of adjustment

    Correction: PIS adjusted correctly.

I also have noticed the slower clutch engagement first time out and after cool down. Car is being picked up next week by the dealer to go over the problem with shifting system. If anyone else has had this please chime in I am not to afraid of it due to the CPO program but curious of others exp.

Thanks in advance to any comments.

I had the same problem with my 430 and the dealer replaced the differential solenoid. Problem solved. The dealership actually installed three solenoids before the issue was resolved. I'm not sure if the solenoid was defective or the install was not properly done.

End result, the car has been working well for nearly two years.

Update, I just got my car delivered back to me from Foreign Cars Italia and all I have to say is wow the car came back better then it went in. The detail is amazing. Turns out the issue was related to the actuator that required removal and adjustment to the bleed valves that allowed air to enter and cause the fault for the shifting. I have to say Bob the General Manager at the Charlotte location went above and beyond any of my expectations. Not only did they pick up the cost the repair but they also did a full service on the car free of charge. This after it was pointed out that I misunderstood and did not buy the car CPO but that it was certified internally 101 point inspection.

Since establishing a relationship first for service items for my 360 to actually purchasing a car directly from FCI it has been an amazing experience post sale. I am a customer from now on and thanks again to the Charlotte staff Bob, Cyrus, and Frank.

    Glad it worked out.

I have seen many folks get confused by the typically misleading "CPO" advertising that some dealers do. They are basically then saying the actual deal is "we inspected it" but its up to you to actually buy the extended warranty. That is misleading (it fooled you) and expensive (the warranties start at $4000 and go tot $10,000 per year depending upon age and V8 vs. V12). Folks be careful out there!

+1 This is a very common misconception. CPO does not mean as much unless you put out the significant coin to buy the extended warranty.

Pat- I love a happy ending. As with most F1 problems, an SD2/3 is a wonderful tool to have available.

Yes now if I can sell it I am looking to move into something else. Considering a 599 or 430 scud. I enjoy the hunt!QUOTE=tazandjan;143120864]Pat- I love a happy ending. As with most F1 problems, an SD2/3 is a wonderful tool to have available.[/QUOTE]

I have recently had the slow down yellow light on my 430--only when very hot and a long hard run. It would not shift up past 2nd, but I put it automatic and it runs fine. ODB reader has no codes. Based on all I have read, the first thing I plan to check is grounding--seems like several issues were resolved, just not sure where to check--also the Ediff solenoid connection. Seems to me that working fine in auto should be a diagnostic clue?
