My f1 light came on while I was trying to put the car into 1st gear. I pulled on the paddles put the car into n then back into 1st. Light went off.

Then while I was driving it came on again while driving from 5th to 6th. I took u foot off the gas and the car went back into 6th.

Am I missing something? It was just in for a service less then 1000 miles ago.

    Thanks

Could be any number of things, from low fluid, F1 pump failing, clutch position sensor. You need either an SD2 or a good scanner to narrow it down.

Your reverse shifter could be loose - do you still need to lift it to engage reverse or have the pins come off ? This causes a minor short which can cause the gearbox light to come on

Did part of the service you just had done include the F1 fluid, or anything to do with the transmission? Sometimes a new issue is related to the last thing worked on.

So I have been trying to figure this out. When I get in the car I hear the pump prime. I put the key in and the f1 light is on and the n is flashing. If I try to start the car is doesn't. If I pull on the paddle to upshot it will go into first and then the f1 light goes off.

Now if I drive the car in auto the f1 light never comes on and it drives with no problems. If I drive it with the f1 paddles the light comes on if I'm at a high rev

    Any suggestions ?

Hope you solve this, or someone suggests the answer. I had the yellow slow down light and F1 flash in the past, and no shifting--but putting it in auto, it was fine. I've since replaced the F1 pump electric motor (only), and it's good for now. I still would like to understand why running in auto is better? Seems to me the F1 does the same physical movement either way. I still think it must be related to the work you just had done.

I agree it just doesn't make sense and I hope it because of the other work that was done. It never did this before.

I'm trying to stop it off today at the shop and if not today then next week. I'm away for 2 weeks so this is the perfect time
