i've always had F-cars (and a snake) with manual and swore i'd never drive an "automatic" but i got a 430 with F1 because that's all they had. i kinda like it, especially on the track, but i also miss the stick. i'm in the process of ordering a 430 to spec and can't decide what to get. haven't been able to try a 430 manual. did anyone go from a 360 manual to a 430 manual? was there any improvement?

I have been driving both, for a long time now. And there seems to be very little change in how the gear box feels while changing.

I had a 360 manual and my 430 is manual and somewhere between the factory and FNA. I will say just from feeling the clutch in the 430 it is not as light as the 360 was.

It has always bugged me that there hasn't been a better way to specify one or the other, technically they're both manual transmissions. One cotrolled by paddles and a computer the other by the driver and a stick shift.

Does anyone know the official Ferrari designation?

According to the price list it's either an "F430" or an "F430 F1"
