Well, that's where I disagree. Red flags are a huge deal and not easily thrown. At least not until apparently this season. I maintain my position: The second red flag was throwing the baby out with the bathtub. They could have either continued to do laps behind the SC or they could have just call it a day and declare the race over. Not quite sure whether this is still after-effects of the Bianchi accident and/or whether this is Liberty who likes a good show and the best part of a F1 race is the start, so lets have as many restarts as possible. Either way I found the second red flag complete overkill.
Possibly a touch less drag on the Alfa, and in the current configuration the Alfa was suited well to Mugello?
I believe, with a doubt, it remains in part to Bianchi's accident. I remember the first report after his passing, there were suggestions made in regarding safety when a vehicle was being recovered. The red flag being thrown to repair the barricade at Monza, but not to repair the barricade at Mugello (just b/c it's the 2nd for the latter race) would also surely, look highly questionable to any team personnel, esp. when both accidents played out in similar manners (car losing control at the rear, forcing it to careen left towards a barrier).
I tend to agree although it ticks me off. I think there are different circumstances: - exit of parabolica is probably much faster than the turn at Mugello (just my guess, dunno for sure but Parabolica is probably one of the fastest exits in all of F1) - the race was practically over, they could have just stopped it at that point, whereas in Monza we were barely at the halfway mark, which would affect the points given - the repair in Mugello was done much faster, which shows that a SC could have been deployed
Well, not necessarily disagree, but repairing a fence takes, let´s say, around 15-20 minutes. Safety car periods of 20 minutes is something you see in endurance racing, but I´m not sure if that would fit in Formula 1.
I hear you. In reality SC was not really a good option either as it would have likely ended the race behind the SC since there weren't that many laps left to run. As I said, they should have just called it a day.
The point at which leClerk left the parbolica was about 190 MPH The point at which Stroll left aver......... was about 170 MPH I, personally, don't think that 170 is all that much slower than 190. I agree that the Red-Flag was necessary at Monza. I remain unconvinced that the second Red-Flag at Mugello was necessary.
