Vettel at it again lol
Incredible to say the following, but you know he can’t wait to get into the Racing Point (Aston) next year. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
They are pulling over 5g in some of those corners. Monster forces and high speeds. I reckon there’s a high chance of a monster off and safety car during the race. Sadly, there doesn’t appear to be anywhere good to overtake unless I’m missing something?
Unless mech issue or major off - whoever takes turn 1 with more than 1 sec is gone and will win. This has very much a Budapest feel with some Barcelona as well. Im prepared for tire management and procession with a mix of mid field folly lol
It will go a lot faster on Saturday at Mugello "In the first session I had quite a bit of trouble with understeer, and in the second session it was a bit better in some places. But there's still a lot of lap time to unlock," says a combative Bottas on Sky Sports. Bottas goes on to say that he enjoyed the track enormously and that the tyre wear wasn't too bad for him either. Something the Red Bull Racing drivers also mentioned. Nevertheless, he expects a tough race. Not only because of the heat and the tyres, but also because of the G-forces.
"Sebastian’s car stopped at the side of the track because of a trivial electrical fault that has already been fixed." also, One grid position (+1 license point) penalty for Checo Pérez for the incident with Raikkonen. Team warned the driver. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I read an interesting tidbit about the track: The speed record is held by motorcycles and won't be broken by F1. Holy smokes!
Think of the power to weight ratio:: 225HP in bikes weighting 350-375 pounds. Whereas F1 cars have 1000 HP and weight 1600 pounds. Actually, it looks rather close--closer than I thought when I started typing.
Motorcycles do not have 2Gs of aerodynamics slowing them down. That is if you are in a F1 car and take you foot off the gas at maximum speed, you start slowing down at nearly 2Gs of retardation simply because of the aero-drag.
Lots of high speed corners = need to put lots of wing on. It's not Baku with only low speed corners...so can run no wing.
I have been to Mugello to photograph motorcycle races. It's a track that puts a premium on handling. Ferrari's lack of straight line speed might not have such a dramatic impact here as at Spa and Monza. Here's hoping anyway...
