F1 Pre-season Testing, Bahrain Feb 26-28, 2025

I really hope ferrari has not made another turd. If so, they should let whoever is doing the WEC work take over.

 

Getting fired?

 

If you think quitting at the exactly right time is hard, try getting fired at exactly the right moment in time.

 

There are lucky people, I have seen this. Now on top of getting fired at the right time and moving on to the right ship, now that's trully hard.

 

Its going to be a long season for Ferrari. I expect Mac to be 1-2 the first 3 races at least. Probably Mercedes being their only competition.

The only hope is that when the flex wing era ends they have a chance to leapfrog -- but I doubt it.

 

He went faster than Williams' qualifying time for the race last year.

We won't know anything till qualifying in two weeks.

It is impossible to predict. If you will recall last season RBR was hot from the get-go and lost form over the course of the season--struggling at the end; Mclaren was NOWHERE in the early races, but steadily improved the car to race winning form; Ferrari had a mid-season slump but finished the season strongly. I have faith in Vasseur and expect Ferrari to be a genuine contender this season.

 

I think McLaren will be the team to beat this year. They have the momentum still from last year IMO.

Mercedes and Ferrari will probably be close. Only problem is where Redbull lands. They are the wild card that can throw a wrench in the works.

Can’t wait to see how they look at Australia.

 

If any team looks like they will run away with it, the FIA will issue a Technical Directive to negate their advantage.

Battle of the flexy rear wings, love it

don’t be shocked if Williams is quicker than Ferrari at some tracks. That car has some pace.

 

Sad that it won't be in mid-April at Bahrain that we get to see something close to a developed and sorted race car. Think about it. The three days of "testing" sessions trying to sort the aero and suspension and engine and tires and short track and long straights...plus learn two different drivers car set up needs for their individual styles...it's a farce. Not to mention what weather conditions will add to the variables. All the sim testing and wind tunnel sessions and computer technology has produced nothing but a guess at how the cars will behave. The first three races gives the team an additional 7 hours per weekend...a total of three 8 hour work days, including the races. By the time they get to Bahrain, they will be barely beginning to understand the cars. Maybe they should only award half points for the first three races...and charge the live audiences half price for tickets.

Here is why this year is not like last year. Last year, Mac made a major upgrade in the middle of the season, mostly on flexi wings.

This year everyone is going to be putting resources into the new regulations coming next season. So there's not going to be a lot of upgrades coming this year. Some smaller teams barely changed their cars from last year to save resources for the new cars.

Ferrari is already starting pretty far behind at least 2 other teams, maybe 3. A long season...

 

Ferrari’s pull-rod suspension switch is a bold move that could pay off if done right. With this being the last year of the regulations, it’s a big risk. RedBull and Mclaren have a more aggressive pull-rod suspension compared to Ferrari's......since both Redbull and Mclaren won titles with such a suspension.

 

Hopefully its just a learning thing for them.

 

Probably prepping for the 2026 car.

 

2026 is Ferrari's year!

 

Not unless they are ready, willing, and able to fight for both titles in 2025.
