I had one 430 that the frekin pump came on ALL the time.. it drove me nuts. Of course, the dealership will tell you that it's normal.. but I've owned 2 other 430's including a scuderia, and I will tell you, it's NOT normal for that pump to come on that often. I got rid of that car after a few months since it couldn't be "fixed"

In my Scud, only when i open the door and turn the key to contact position. I always let it prime fully (till the sound is gone) before starting the motor.

Never noticed it during driving, but i will listen next time im in the car.

My standard 430 does this, as does a number of other people's 430's that I've asked, it is very difficult to hear normally when driving, let's be honest the car's not quiet :) I've noticed it when slowing to a stop sometimes, flicking into N engine revs drop then while quite quiet I can sometimes hear a quick whiz of the pump.

I would say it's normal based on the number of cars that do it, they can't all be broken :)

It's normal in all the F430.

My dealer said that this is normal on scuds since they use more pressure for the super fast 2 trans.
Hmm I don't know, some of you said the same happens in normal 430,s.
