What happens when you are at a light for over 3 mins and the car is in 1st gear and it beeps and goes into "N" and won't go back into first gear until you shut done the car and restart it? Low on fluid? No warning lights, all doors and engine hatch closed, no over heating, and the car has not be parked for a long time

    Any ideas? Thanks

Just to be sure, you're not taking your foot off the brake, are you?

If you put it in neutral when stopped at the light, will it go back into first?
I suspect you are overheating the pump by making it hold the clutch for that long.

I did have in 1st for awhile then it beeped and went to neutral then would not go back to 1st until I turned off the car and started it back up. You think I just overheated the f1 pump?

It's possible. I don't do this so not sure. Generally I make a habit out of going into neutral at all lights kinda like I did when driving a stick. Maybe you panicked and forgot to push the brake to get it back into first. Brake must be pressed to shift from neutral. If you are stopped in gear and you release the brake it doesn't take long for the computer to kick it into neutral. My guess is you forgot to push the brake when pulling the paddles to select first. I doubt the pump overheated.

I was told to think of your car like a race car. The computer wants to drop the hammer every time your foot comes off the brake when your stopped and in gear, it waits a little and then says:

"look buddy either you want to go or stop but there's no in between when I'm in first, so i am going to put you in neutral so you can figure out what you want".

I have an F1 in mine, it will go in to neutral even if you have your foot on the brake if you are stop for a predetermined time say in 1st gear. And then beep to warn you of the change.
All I do is just shift it back in to 1st before moving.
Your foot has to be on the brake, the F1 needs to see that signal among others.
I've never had to turn the car off and back on to get it to shift back in to 1st.

Agreed. I tend to put it in neutral if I think I will be stopped for more than a minute or so at the lights.
Of course the downside is when you forget you did that and hit the loud pedal on green only to sit there revving and going nowhere like an idiot...
But I've never had it do anything that required a stop / start routine.
