Sunday's race seemed to be over in less than a hour and a half. All other major races and sports (NASCAR, football, etc) are at least 2 1/2 hours long. Doesn't seem worth the trouble to put up with all the crowds, traffic, and high cost of tickets if you're only going to see 22(?) cars speeding by for 1 1/2 hours. I realize when your a super fan like most that attend the races it wouldn't matter but you would think they would lengthen it out for TV ads. Are there support races the morning of the race like the Carrera Cup or are those held on Saturday of race weekends?

...I´ve always thought that too...this races are way too short, cars win by 30 secs, only 4 or 6 racing head to head, the rest of the field is a rolling banner, and effort to put on it as a show is HUGE...

but I love it as long as there are red Ferraris in it...hell, is F1.

they should be longer, and there should be at least 30 cars on track...

Oh and they should have that PUSH TO PASS button!!!

    Agreed...Way too short.

I decided to forego the last USGP because it's just a lot of effort and expense for a 1.5 race.

Definitely needs to be adjusted to match other top series....

The engines have to last 2 races. Would be expensive to make the races longer. They are trying to keep costs down don't you know. Ha.

Last Sunday's race was boring, but I wish we had enough laps to see FA move up to third or second. FA desperate to pass Kimi or FA desperate to pas LH.

I think we were all robbed of a great battle between LH and FA.

You can thank the British biased FIA for that. Should have left that one well alone IMO.

Want longer racing, watch Le Mans, go to Sebring, Daytona, 24 hours of Spa.

F1 is a parade, wake me up before the national anthems starts at the end.

I wish you could have seen the race at the Nurburgring. Not all F1 races are parades, but granted most are.

I think having 500 mile races, with 2-3 oval races at Indianapolis, Motegi, and Pocono will be a good idea, as for the cars, I think increasing the displacement to 3.5 to 4 liters, with the engines having 12500-14000 rpm redlines, and no forced induction allowed, and producing about 900-1000 bhp will be a good idea, with 900+ bhp you can expect Formula 1 cars to have top speeds of above 250 mph at Indianapolis, in terms of aerodynamics, and the tires, there will be free development, meaning teams can use slicks if they want to, or grooved tires if they prefer, they can even use six tires on a car like Tyrell in the 1970's if they want to, since the only restriction with regards to tires is that Formula 1 cars must have at least 4 tires, with regards to wings and other aerodynamic devices, teams will be free to use whatever type they desire, or even not to use any wings at all if that is what they want, the same goes to ground effects, so cars will no longer be forced to use flat bottoms, I would also ban all electronic driver aids including traction control, yaw control and ABS, also I would go back to the old points system of 10, 6, 4, 3, 2, and 1, and go back to the old 1 hour qualifying format, also I would look into ugrading the safety features in the old Nurburgring so hopefully Formula 1 cars can return there again, the key question here really are the drivers, if they have the physical stamina to stand the rigors of a 500 mile road race, technologically there are really no problems with making engines last 500 miles.

Did anyone really watch more than the first and last half hour of Indy? ;)

Two hours maximum is plenty, when you're doing 70 laps with 14 corners per, and each of them pull more G's than a shuttle launch.

    Unless you want pilotless cars.

"Racing" in the future: Electric "green" cars without drivers, running for duration. (yawn)
