F1 reverse lever was not moving and could not engage reverse.

WSM says the are no servicable parts

Took the assembly out and took to the Ferrari Dealer

They have never seen this problem before and never took one apart before

    Very reasonable to replace Only $ 4,238 + tax Holy Cr#p !!

Went home and I figured out how to take the unit apart

Long story short ... metal spring pin (like a watch band) wore away cheap plastic housing from regular use. Unbelievable

I drilled thru plastic housing, then cut the drill bit to size and now works like a champ for reverse. The orignal pin was allowed to move so now the lever can't engage the gear change + 1. I'm not sure why anyone would shift the gears from there when there are the paddles.

Very poorly designed part and ridiculously expensive.

Hope no one catches it when I bring the car to Pebble Beach

One more reason to avoid the F1 cars when shopping for a pre-owned fcar, 360 im my case.

Easy fix on a 575M or 360 with the Hill Engineering part, but unfortunately they have not made one for the 612 or Superamerica and F1A yet. You might check with Paul Hill and see if they are working on one.

Recommendation from the pros is never use the F1A lever to select 1st, use the paddles, so sounds like you are set. No way they will catch that at Pebble Beach. If someone reaches for that lever slap his hand.

Very interesting that you state that there is a difference between the 575 and the F1A

There are different part numbers but I thought it was just the engraved logo on the metal top plate.

Do you know what is the difference beteen the part for the 575 and the SA

What is the fix from Hill Engineering on the 575M/360 Hill part number RL-01 - Reverse Lever 355/360/Cambiocorsa is the metal part. The plactic housing with the switches is the part that failed on my car

Yes, completely different F1 systems and control panel. F1A vs F1 software and same 180 ms min shift time as the 575M HGTC system at 180 ms.

Like I mentioned earlier, no reason to replace a 360/F430/575M unit. The HE metal replacement part cures that problem. Several threads on how to do that in the 360/F430 section. If Hill decides to do the same thing for the Superamerica/612, it will be the same story for those models. The part shown below does not work on F1A control boxes.

    Had this problem too.

Our gearbox looks the same as the one in the 612, and I actually bought one to replace the one in my SA, but it does not engage gears properly.

I don't know if the unit I got was also defective, or it is programmed differently.

Will look at my Superamerica parts catalog tomorrow and see if they are the same part. It is on Virtual Machine and takes a while to get to it.

The F1A is is the same in the 612

    See the attached pics

The metal forks is just a mechanism that moves a rocker that triggers a momentary contact in the plastic housing.

I would not think there is any programming necessary when swapping out units

The HE part for the 575 lever is very different than the F1A

Thankfully that is not that part that failed in my case and I was able to to figure out a simple repair in the switch component

That is a lot more complicated than the one on the 360/575M.
