Nice find. I had no problem with the new rule and none if its gone. Budapest was a nice wake up call about the good things going on in F1 today.

The racing now is a little more intense, just because you are seeing the drivers fight with the car and its little(by comparison) downforce, and the extra torque.

I just want the v10 scream back, along with that v10 scream. Did I mention I really like that v10 scream?

Hmmm..... Interesting that nobody else is reporting this..... I'd have thought the usual suspects (Autosport, Pitpass, gpupdate etc) would have been all over it, but as far as I can see, they're not. No word from Charlie either......

    Not saying it's not true, but as of right now it remains in the sporting regulations for 2015 published (as a draft) at the end of June;

It goes on to talk about exceptions, blah, blah, but as of a month ago there it is......

    Cheers,
    Ian

I never thought I'd say this; but don't blame the FIA for this one!

Charlie proposed, and apparently the teams accepted, the idea. Got written into the early draft of next years regulations.

Next we have what appears to be a single, unconfirmed as far as I can tell, report that Bernie says it's not going to happen. No comments from any one else.

It'll all come out over the next few months, but it would be grossly unfair to lay this particular mess at the FIA's doorstep IMO.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Next they will have to scrap that stupid qualification formula and the ban on testing and they will be on their way for a decent 2015 season, maybe.

    I agree,

Take away even more downforce and bring back the screaming engines (V12s plaese.....)

Bernie has said that he doesn't want standing starts and wants to get rid...not official as of yet.

I find the quali system excellent. Before none of the big boys would do a lap until 5 minutes to go. Now everyone has to.

Or that laughable single lap quali...

Agree with you on testing though.

We're gonna have to wait & see I guess.... Sometimes Bernie gets what he wants, but not always.....

I'm actually pretty neutral, really not bothered one way or the other. I know you think it's dangerous, but I'm with Charlie on it - no more so than the first start, maybe we should do away with that too?

    Cheers,
    Ian

    +1 to all.

Qualy is often *the* highlight of the weekend! They've got to be on their toes, lots of strategy involved and then a balls out lap or two. Great stuff!

One of the few things I think they've got right!

    Cheers,
    Ian

Unlike the first start you add the factors of a dirty grid and unequally worn tires.

    True.

But there's always a 'good' & a 'bad' side, even the first time they go.

They all have the opportunity to change tires behind the SC if they want.

They're big boys. They should be able to handle it..... ;)

Again, I'm pretty ambivalent about it. No big deal either way. What I find more interesting is Bernie saying 'it's not going to happen' with no further comment from anyone..... ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

You're saying that the amount of clag doesn't grow as the race proceeds?
Changing tires during a S/C can incur a cost. In terms of places and in terms of upstting tire strategy.

    Face it. Its a gimmick.

Not very much on the start/finish straight.

Again, there's a 'clean side' & a 'dirty side'. Not very much clag build up on the grid.

Sure. Most decisions have a cost-benefit ratio. One of the reasons there's teams of strategists sitting in front of 'puters. Get it right, you're a hero. Get it wrong, not so much......

Yes, but there's been many more, even more abhorrent gimmicks over the years. Again, this ones pretty ambivalent in the scheme of things IMO.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Yeah we've been abused worse. By no means should we accept any more abuse.
