I wonder where I can get a hub to fit one of those things in my 1980 Scirocco?

 

All those dials to play mp3s?

 

I would expect a users manual included somewhere???

 

I think I remember hearing somewhere that they cost in the region of $25K/each. Alotta electronics on that little thing.

 

That's what I heard too. And it is a lot of one off electronics for each one.

The wheel itself is probably pretty cheap. I ordered 3 different LMGTP steering wheels for myself last week. Sparco made to custom specs. They were under $100 each without the electronics.

When someone was buying MS's 2001 winner at Monaco Fifth Gear announcer said the wheel came with a 3,000 page manual. Of course it also came with a condensed pocket version...

3000 pages? The wheel or the whole car??

I watched that show several times with friends and I am 100% sure they said 3,000 pages for the steering wheel. They may have stretched the truth, who knows...

 

I was lucky enough to get to mess around with one in the F1 shop at Ferrari. I was told then (last year) that they were pushing $50,000.

 

For the USGP, the FAA requires a copy of the Pilot's Operating Manual to be aboard for every flight.

Let me guess:

The Ferrari wheel runs on Linux ...
The Williams wheel runs on Windoze ...
... and the Minardi wheel is flashing 12:00, 12:00, 12:00 ...

 

Oops, I made a mistake. They were £80 without the electronics. Still much less than $50k...

 

Where's the Jenson Button.

 

Honda and Williams each designed one on, but had to remove it in dispute.

 

Actually, that would make pretty good desktop wallpaper. It would be different at least from the usual stuff one sees....

 

Actually, Ferrari has them on loan from one of the Space Shuttles...
