I found this picture of a F1 theme park that is being planned to be built in Dubai. Opening should coincide with their first F1 GP Looks pretty funky, but then again it could be reason enough for me for a trip there. At least somebody has the great idea of dedicating a theme park to F1! Source is (my beloved) Motorsport Aktuell magazine a good friend just brought me from Europe. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's a horrible design. What did they make it out of, cake? It looks edible. Edit: I mean seriously, look how tacky it is. Giants busts of drivers that are probably 200 ft tall and what's up with all the F1 logos everywhere? Did they seriously attempt at making something or did they take out a scene of The Jetsons and put F1 stickers on it?
Couldn't agree more with you. I love the theme park idea, but yes the picture does look terrible. I hope it is only a first idea.
It is just a still shot from a concept animated promo video. The real design will be sure to blow your mind away. Good Morning F-chat from Dubai!
Good morning Impy in Dubai today from Carol in central Texas where it's not hot and humid this morning and the a/c isn't on! Hadn't thought about the photo looking like George Jetson's world or a cake from Wally-World with hot wheels in strategically placed locations. In the photo the people look as though they are carved from butter. Interesting concept and I am surprised that someone else hasn't jumped on the theme park bandwagon already like Disney or someone. Wasn't there talk a year or two about a Ferrari Theme Park? Thankfully I have heard nothing about it since, but I seem to remember Luca Di M spoke about the idea.
The F1 theme park is just about 80% a Ferrari theme park! It is not just a theme park, it is a museum of mamoth proportions dedicated to the pinnacle of motorsport and the team that has made F1 what it is (Scuderia Ferrari). I am only happy to be alive to witness such a great temple being built!
They should design it something like McLaren's Paragon or at least take some architectural advice from it. Pic: http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/1919/22xk.jpg
Does anyone have any idea about how advanced the talks on a GP in Dubai are? What are the chances and when?
The article talks about this as well and mentions, that the Theme park along with the F1 GP track in Dubai should be ready by 2008. Which happens to be also the year Bernie's contract with Bahrain expires. So the idea is to move the GP over to Dubai.
LOL ! Now all it needs is a 400 ft tall michelin man stomping all over the place...http://www.dvd.it/img_big/210601.jpg
