F1 Theme parks

Dubai will get the first one. No news there, but now Bernie announces a whole bunch of them around the world.

Personally I find that absolutely wonderful good news, but I can't really imagine them being a big success. To me it sounds too much like "Planet Hollywood": Great for a couple of years and then the interest will vanish.

Also did you notice how the drawings now are a lot more toned down? I remember posting an early drawing here once with some gigantic racing drivers etc. All of that is gone. Reminds me a bit of the once elaborate Liebeskind plans for Ground Zero.

 

I cant imagine what type of rides or amusements there might be. Is there really a big interest in F1 in the Middle East, other than Bahrain. It might be more logical to build the first in Europe.

 

If Eurodisney is still around I think the F1 theme park could have a chance...

If you look at the conceptual drawings you see the F1 logo. And the article states Bernie is the deal maker. So I think that clears some of the money questions.

Agreed on Vegas. Another area would be of course Orlando.

I noticed on the drawing a track nearby: Maybe that's part of the concept to have these parks coupled with existing/new tracks? Would make sense, but obviously limit some of the places where to put them. Also some of the current tracks are in the middle of nowhere, which isn't helpful for a tourist trap like this.

Man, those drawings are horrible. Whoever drew those has an odd sense of perspective

If I have to travel to a country that will have me caned for accidently having banned prescription drugs in my handbag to attend this park, then, no thanks.
