Went to drive a 360 today that was shifting very slowly. There was a big bog between gears, and it didn't seem to matter at what rpm I shifted. I assume the car is supposed to shift as fast a sportbike, no? (downshifted quickly with no hesitations) I have read on here that the TCU upgrade for the stradale improves the shifting, but I can shift a 3-peddle car faster than this example. How quickly should it change gears? There was a warranty job done on the f1, and I don't want to buy a lemon, Scott

    excuse my silly questions:
have you ever driven one before?
    were you driving it properly?
keeping your foot on the throttle?

If you intend to purchase this or any Ferrari I suggest you have a Pre-Purchase Inspection, (PPI) performed by a certified Ferrari tech. He can answer all your questions and give you a detailed assessment of the car.

If there was truly a “warranty job” done recently (i.e., factory authorized shop using certified technicians & parts), it’s likely the F1 is working as intended. Maybe you were letting off the gas during shifting instead of allowing the system to do that automatically as designed. That’s about the only way the driver can screw it up.

Many 3-peddle guys (myself included) are initially fooled by the system thinking they can shift faster manually. Try again – watch and time yourself carefully and accurately. You’ll discover you‘re not shifting as fast as you thought, and certainly not as fast as the Ferrari F1 system.

If you really want to be impressed, take another test drive with the F1. Drive around 15-20 minutes so everything is warmed up properly. Switch to “Sport” mode and find a nice open, dry and very safe stretch of road or a nice long freeway onramp. Get rolling briskly and into 2nd gear. Plant your foot on the floor and let it run up past 8K. It won’t take long -- trust me. Without lifting your foot, pull the shift for 3rd. You won’t have more than a second or two before you’re at red line again and nearly 100 mph with your head nailed solidly to the headrest, so maybe you better let off now and get back to legal speed.

Then come back and report if you still think it shifts too slowly.

The other posters are right... you can certainly make the F1 system on the 360 seem "slow" if you drive it wrong.

What year 360 is this. It does matter some.

When you're up and down shifting, don't lift your foot... the car should shift in a couple hundred milliseconds.

As Camdon53 suggests, sport-mode and shift above 7500RPM and the car becomes a total beast.

If you're going to buy this car, spend the cash for a professional, certified PPI... you'll kick yourself in the a$$ if you don't and all of a sudden find stuff wrong.

The 360 is a great car...

    Good luck,
    Frank

I drive 3 pedals in my DD and initially I thought that I could shift faster but after some review, no way. Try what he described but shift at about 7800. The shift will give you whiplash and you will get wheel spin that could get out of control if you had turned off ASR.

I did let the car warm up, 15-20 mins to the freeway on ramp. I held the pedal at 3/4 throttle and did not let off. I tried shifting 3K, 5K, 7K, and slightly above that a few times. Still, a pretty big bog. I did not turn the asr off. There were more than one repair to the f1 system, and it still didn't seem right. Thanks for the feedback, Scott
