    Hey guys,

As a new owner of a Ferrari F430 Spider (picked it up a couple months, have about 2500 miles on it) I'm curious to understand if other people have problems with the F1 equipped cars (F355/F360/F430/etc) and the car stalling at a crawl.

For example, I'll be at a red light and lightly feather the throttle to accelerate and the car will stall on me about 25% of the time. This is quite annoying and I'm not sure if it is a fault with the car or if I am just missing something obvious.

    Thanks.

it needs more throttle. To ease into acceleration it sometimes will jerk, more throttle should solve the problem out of 1st gear.

I have a CS and I don't have any problems at all with stalling ever, regardless of how much/little throttle. I have driven my friend's Enzo a few times and never had problem with that neither. I've only driven 1 other F355 F1 and it did have a tendancy to jump out of 1st gear if you just started going and hestitate the throttle and going to slow it will pop into neutral...you notice it the most in reverse. I wonder if that indicates an ECU or sensor problem...idling too low? I am suprised to hear that because Ferrari has made F1 better with each new car that comes out and the F1 in my CS is pretty much brainless, never think about it even in traffic.

Seem's like you need to visit the dealership for a warranty check.

Try setting the manettino to driving in the rain instead of sport or race. A technician from Maranello has advised driving in this mode while driving in traffic. It works.

I have a 360 and have never experienced a stalling problem regardless of how much/little throttle. You might want to have a dealer check it.

Get your PIS ("point of initial slippage") adjusted on the F1 tranny. That should not be happening.

i had the same problem with mine and i thought i forgot how to drive. took it back to ferrari of long island and they had the guys at fna look at it and put in a new clutch software. the car runs like a dream. have your local dealer contact fna, they are aware of the problem.

the problem with the old software was that the clutch would release much too soon.

That is a problem, take to dealer.. :)

remember F1 the clutch will redraw qhen RPMs are low to avoid this exact thing.

this problem is only with the F430 F1 transmission and not 360's or the CS

I've heard of 360's doing this, but it's always been associated with an "out-of adjustment" tranny. Haven't experienced it yet in the several 430's I've driven. Take the car to the dealer and have them hook up the computer/tester.

Thanks for the feedback. I've been driving in the rain for the last several days (with the car in rain mode) and it hasn't happened. I guess I can just throw it in rain while in the city until I get it to the dealership (have to truck it out to the dealership, so I'll likely wait until the end of summer)

Actually, I just took the car out in rain mode and it did stall. I think I can prevent it by pushing the throttle fairly hard, but it really sucks in the rain because it causes traction issues due to a fast start off the line.

On the 360 F1 the rain setting causes the gearbox to start off in 2nd gear - I’m almost sure of this. It will cause a lot of clutch wear if you have the rain setting on all the time. Have it adjusted while under warranty - it simply shouldn’t stall at a red light.

It does. It's a push button by the reverse lever.
