Hello all, was out driving my 2001 360 Modena the other day, spiritedly I'll add, and the following day I noticed my car dash display an error symbol which ended up being the F1 Transmission failure icon per the OM. The car turns on and I can hear the F1 pump activate when I open the drivers door per usual. I took it around the block to discover that the car will not shift past 2nd gear. It will downshift into 1st, go into reverse fine but when I pull the paddle from 2nd to engage 3rd, nothing happens. No sounds, gear indicator changing, nothing. I went through the binder full of records the car came with and quickly remembered this had happened back in 2021 before (different owner). The solution last time was the Actuator was not centered, shop loosened shift paw and performed centering process with special tool and Leonardo. My question is, is it possible this could be the culprit again? Does anyone have experience with this issue and have a more permanent fix? Thank you for your input in advance!

Most likely potentiometers but of course would need to check error code stored and live data include shifting grid data ..

Unfortunately given a 2001 you will need a Leo to read data

Same symptoms on mine with a loose potentiometer. Torquing it back in cured the problem.

it is possible that the self-centering shift thing is the cause. But, it is more likely to be the gear position sensors on the 360.

A free and easy first step would be to feel the potentiometers to make sure they’re secured I suppose.

Thank you for the input everyone!! Is there a write up on how to torque/check the potentiometer? Can't seem to find one on Fchat.

You need a scanner that can read the error codes on the gearbox and then you will he able to do troubleshooting work on it. Getting to the sensors is pretty involved and once you are there it's well worth it to change them.

Look for a thread on how to make an inexpensive version of the sensor from non Ferrari parts.

Do you have a WSM ?

Pull the rear diffuser and heat shield off the actuator and the sensors are on the back/engine side of the actuator. Yours may indeed be bad, but I’d diagnose the issue before tossing money at it.
