I have a 2006 Maserati Gransport, which as I understand it has an F1 system mechanically very similar to the 575. It would seem from the boards that the main mechanical issue with these cars is centered around the transmission (clutch wear and F1 pump failures).
My question is: do you think keeping it in sport mode with faster shifting times, less clutch on/off time and slippage will translate into fewer mechanical problems? I wonder if the sport mode is harder on the F1 pump? More people read and respond on the Ferrari section, so I thought I'd post it here since they are similar systems.
    Thanks.

I keep my 612 set to sport more all the time as well. When in normal mode, the shifts just seem to take too long and I just know it's slipping the clutch more than I'd like. With mostly long distance driving on it, my car admittedly has fewer shifts/mile than most, but it still has over 44K miles on it with no issues from the xmission or clutch or any part therein.

One thing to remember when reading of issues with the F1 system on earlier cars is that those are essentially test vehicles for earlier versions of the system and your car has the advantage of changes to improve weak points of the earlier systems. With each new model and even with succesive years in same models Ferrari/Maserati have made improvements to the way the f1 system behaves and functions. If you've ever driven or ridden in one of the earlier iterations of the F1 system you'd be surprised at how different they are from yours.

I'd worry more about the clutch than the pump, personally, although I spend little time worrying about either.

The pump is like any other story, it's no problem unless it is yours that goes bad. Failures of those are rare and I would not lose sleep over it. That may change when the cars get to be ten years old but for now, ain't no thang.

Clutch wear is a little different. 90+% of wear happens when leaving a stop. Read all the threads and all the info about minimizing wear here and you will be well versed in how to do it. It is true that sport mode will be a little better for it but the difference is small.
