How reliable is the F1 transmission? What type of costs are associated with maintainting the F1 transmission over time? Are the shift times noticeably quicker with the F1 compared with the manual? How does the F1 transmission compare with the SMG transmission BMW offers.

I have tried the DSG gearbox on the TT 3.2 and it was a lot of fun. The shifts were extremely smooth. I wished it had true paddles. I also didn't like the fact that it shifts automatically when you get to redline. It kind of takes the fun out of it. Overall I was impressed though.

if we are talking about 355, 360 and 550 575s...someone who truly enjoyes the sport of driving will get the 6speed...the newer cars shift quickly and easily and feel great!!the f1 is a novelty and is fun for a test drive but i know several people who got tired of it and sold to get 6speeds...plus the speed will be more rare inthe future and has less maintaince issues!!!
