I'm doing my research before buying my first ferrari (2004 CS, ~7k Mi).

I read here that an F1 equiped car may need a new clutch every 10-16k Mi, depending on how the car was driven. And that some not well taken care of (in terms of drive-style) may need a new clutch as soon as 4k Mi!

After reading all that i wonder: What is a bad way to drive an F1 360 or CS? And what do i need to know to drive it "correctly" and save a clutchs life?

Just as with any clutch, the best way to drive it is to NOT SLIP THE CLUTCH. With a normal manual, this may seem obvious, as well as very driver related. Most F1 newbees think that they don't have control over that wear, which is simply not the case.

With a CS, there are 2 modes, 'Sport' and 'Race'. Sport is a much lazier shifting program, where there is definitely some slip. Race mode is either 'on' or 'off', but still can be modulated with your right foot. I keep mine in 'Race' and make sure that I don't slip the clutch. Long story short, 3 years and plenty of miles and track days and I've only worn ~3% of the clutch.

I replaced the clutch at 17k miles. Was told the clutch really wears out fast at the end. It is 3.5 hours to the dealer so I had it done at the annual service.

Do not back up until the clutch is warm. Park so you can go forward out of your garage when you start out cold. This will aid clutch life.
Do not back up uphill until the clutch is warm. Avoid backong up uphill as much as possible.

Drive in SPORT mode...it is easier on the clutch.

Only do aggressive shifts at high revs after evrything is warm.

Or you can buy an Fcar with DCT. Problem solved. ;)

Minimal city and heavy traffic driving. That's the best way to save a clutch on an F1 equipped Ferrari. And stay away from inclines as best you can. No underground parking garages either.

Jesus Christ how can it be that an automatic mode wears the clutch more than using it in manual, What kind of engineers made that ?

The multitude of issues experienced by owners , conclusively demonstrates these cars , while beautiful are not well engineered nor is there a concern for durability.

Also you can just shift to neutral coming up to a light rather that downshift. Though doesn't sound as cool. Every little thing you can do helps.
