hi. I was just wondering if there's a cool place to watch f1 around LA. I just moved here from northern california and I have no friends who watch f1 or know anything about it. thanks.

Normally a few people on this board throw viewing parties. I've yet to find a place other than home or one of those parties for viewing. There must be one somewhere? Maybe if you find a place with a dish they use for sporting events, you can convince them to turn on the F1 race?

They always announce a place during the Speed TV shout-outs in Newport Beach (______ Trattoria?), but that's not quite LA....

They actually mentioned a few places in California, including Skywalker Ranch, which made me smile. I have no idea what the others were though. Three responses, and no closer to an answer.

man, how far away are these places? i'm going to go crazy here! it's not much fun watching a race for 2 hours by yourself at midnight haha. I'd rather drive 30 miles and be excited! ...and watch Kimi win...

I talked to a nice guy at the new Ferrari Store at the Beverly Centerwho said he was in the process of getting approval to show races recorded earlier that morning. We've gotta do something, though. We suffer from our time zone most of the time, but if we could deal with watching Speed's re-broadcast, there must be a bar in LA that'll have us.

Im up for an F1 watching club or something like that. Is there a fan club around here in So Cal? There gotta be!! We need someplace with a projector or someone with a nice big screen TV to host... :) I love F-1 and getting up at 2 AM is so worth it! It would be cool to hang out with other F1 fans!

On Marine Ave (I think thats the name) on Balboa island - there is an Italian place - which I remember seeing something about watching F1 - but this was like 2 years ago - I'm not sure if they still watch it there or not. I know the place still exists though...

haha yeah its worth it, the roommates don't think so though :/ There was a club in SF for watching F1, so I thought that the socal guys would already have a bigger, better one...guess not.

I'll look up that Marine Ave. thing. thanks.

off topic, but looking forward to seeing a car meet down here too.

Yea, I don't blame you wanting to watch a race all by your lonesome. Hmm, dangerous curves?? Listen, I'd be happy to throw a party at my place? Whadya say? Shoot me a pic and we'll talk about it ;)

J/K. The Ferrari club hosts stuff. Good luck finding a spot :)

    Just found this link:
    http://insider.speedtv.com/viewtopic.php?t=145702

    Los Angeles & Vicinity:
    - Irvine - Fox Sports Grill
    - Irvine - K1 Speed
    - Newport Beach - Giorgio La Trattoria (on Balboa Island)

Not sure if K1 or Fox Sports Grill actually does live viewings though - but pretty sure that Giorgio La Trattoria does (although I haven't been). Probably best to have someone confirm though.

Go ahead with the Honda Gear-- I don't think the Ferrari folks feel too threatened. :)

If the Fox restaurant at the Spectrum does it, then why not the one in Downtown LA at the Staples Center? If I were to give them a call to enquire about arranging it, would there be interest for that location?

My guess is that FSG will only show it if it's live during business hours. Doubt they tape it, and NFW they would open in the middle of the night.

So, are any of you guys going to this place on Balboa island to watch the race? (it's mother's day) If anyone knows what time they play the race that would be helpful, if not, I'll call to find out and let you guys know.
