    Hi all,

I'm usually on the flat-12 group, which is likely where you'll tell me to go crawl back to when you hear this tale..

2015 F12, myself and a good friend were on Watkins Glen earlier this month. His alternator belt decided to exit the vehicle in splendid style, leaving little shreds of stuff strewn across the motor. It exited somewhere between Turn 2 and Turn 4, while grunting up the esses in spectacular style.

Back to the paddock on battery power, he pulled the lower tray and accessed handfuls of belt, one of which had the cryptic numbers from the Ferrari belt...it also had a clue where we might find a replacement and salvage the afternoon sessions on track!

Turns out the 4 rib belt had the marking 4K1173. In theory, which was all we had on a Saturday of Labor Day weekend, we needed one roughly the same size. Quick call to NAPA and they don't list it. However they did have a listing for a 4PK1170. Ok, 3mm shorter. Maybe a fit? Trouble was finding one in stock close by..

Dayco 5040460 is the same as an 1170. Found one about 30 minutes away. Car was back on track within 30 minutes of the part arriving. Drove two full days on track time with no issue.

So, in case you need a quick fix, maybe this will help someone some day. 15 bucks was a nice surprise too! To be honest, I'm a bit jealous. They charge more than that for a V belt on my Testarossa!

I'll see myself out... cheers all!

Service your car annually. The belts get changed out on a schedule. Just ask the dealer to put the old belt in the new box. If you put few miles on the car like most owners than you will have a good spare(s) that fit. Although, I've never had a problem with belts.

My tech told me the type of belt used on F12 is stretching dependent on tension, and if you take it off it must be replaced with a new one and under no circumstances put the old back on. This from my trusted shop in Houston (not dealer). I will probably do the belt as a yearly service item as opposed to start with the upgrades etc that Ferrari did on this car
