My dealer has agreed to sell me the convertible version of the F12 if they get an allocation. They indicated the price could be in the $800,000 to $900,000 and directed to those clients wanting the LaFerrari and could not get one. Do you think the future value will justify the high cost?

I agree with the Doc... Not only it won't probably be so expensive (But who knows with ferrari) But it is curious your dealer has agreed to sell something that doesn't exist

My guess would be more around the $500K range (MSRP)... What did the 599 Aperta go for?

$520k MSRP I believe, but now there are some going for close to $1 million.

On what basis has had made this proposal? Is this HIS take on events or does he have some real factory based info to support it?

There are bound to be special variants of the f12 at some stage. This could potentially get you into line for something that will be much harder to purchase later on.

You should also consider your relationship with the dealer. I've heard stories of deposits taking a very long time to get back if they get back at all in some cases. (Not Ferrari but other marques and dealers of multiple brands)

Meh, screw relationships if you can afford a $800-900K F12.

Just go buy the special cars at market price. If you can buy at market price, you can sell at market price later. There will always be special cars for sale and something tells me the OP can easily afford it given his willingness to part with nearly $1M for a potential F12 body-kit.

Although i do not know the OP, he is asking about future value of the car which leads me to believe he would not be buying a $900k F12 if it were to depreciate like a kitted F12 should.
Hard to answer his question as nothing is known about this car so far. But the Aperta proved that if the engine is special and the car is limited enough, then it will be a good investment (if we are in a healthy economy..) which frankly surprised me. I thought the Aperta would maintain its value. Never did i think it would almost double.

I made reference to "Convertible" when I should have said "Open Top". Sorry if that made a big difference.

Perhaps your dealer is indicating where they think the market value for such a car would be. I suspect sticker would be lower.

Me thinks the dealer is just trying to get a head start with him, getting prepared with intent to buy papers etc.mso he has a guy straight on the line once they gradually start opening the books. F12 "Aperta" is coming, absolutely no doubt about that. Think 550 Barchetta, 575 SA, 599 SA Aperta. Ferrari also has a patent for a new type of targa glass roof.

That said, to my knowledge there has been absolutely no "official" info sent to dealers or customers from to factory regarding the car. But a few of my friends have seen mules/bodyshells that may be prototypes for the F12 "Aperta". But there are many things going on "under the radar" in Maranello at the moment, so they could have seen something else. SP is busy!

With regard to price I wouldn't have the slightest idea. It sounds steep but Ferrari can charge whatever they like and still make it a spoken for car. In Geneva last year LdM claimed over 700 written requests to purchase (with proof of finance) were received for LaF. In later presentations they've upgraded that number to ~1,000.

Would certainly be an interesting car from a looks point of view but I doubt it would have a much different roof arrangement than the Aperta.

I think each dealer got just one 599 Aperta each and the allocation was directly given
to the end buyer by the Factory at least that's my impression maybe I'm mistaken ?
