I understand this car is not a US production car. The person had it imported from Europe but customs would not let it enter the US. There are no yellow side markers on the car which indicates this is not a US production car.
Well, I guess he never got it past customs or convinced them that he paid for it. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ff-f12/391251-my-f12-has-arrived.html Notice the pics are exactly the same? Explains why we never got any more pics.
It's for export only. Cannot be registered in the US. My guess is that it's still stuck in a customs warehouse at LAX collecting dust. Actually that's pretty cheap with VAT included. Unfortunately, with shipping, he'll never get that price.
Damn, unfortunate. I was looking forward to hearing some updates. Well, worth a try I suppose. Now we know how this kind of thing might turn out. Wonder what the story was exactly.
For a Euro-spec that can't be registered, its not cheap. You can buy them all day for around 250k +VAT in Europe. Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, LED Carbon, el. Sitze,Kamera, als Sportwagen/Coupé in Berlin Just an example, but its still cheaper than that. Plenty of them on mobile.de And the "VAT included" is a bit misleading IMO. Where is it included? Europe? US? Perhaps the CA sales tax was paid but will not help anyone bringing it back to Europe for instance.
That car is stuck for a long time. It wont sell in the US (Unless someone wants a track car?) and no one in Europe will bring it back as the price is way too high.
