Can you put a Capristo switch on an F12 - I am going to get one but want easy way to open up exhaust - don't want to spend a bunch on a different exhaust - been there done that

For me a must (and easy to install in appropriate fashion, meaning just have an additional button at the driver tunnel) as it gives that little extra kick once driving at lower speeds/refs.

My understanding is the switch doesn’t make it louder than being open it is just always open when the switch is on right?

I have the Capristo remote on my F12. With my FF and 488 GTB, I just had the exhaust valves pinned open. Easier not to fuss with a remote, and I want to hear the full symphony below 4,000 rpm.

Correct, on = open the valves, off = valves closed until the refs are higher and the car opens them up. I prefer to have the option to open or not.

Do you lose the pops and the like though when the exhaust is always open?

Not at all - in my scud I have the switch - when open it is much louder - but you can close if you get tired of loudness on a long drive

I have the Capristo switch on my F12 and I also had it before on an early aspirated California. Comparing both if that can be done, the Cali with the exhaust valves open was definitely too loud and the sound had no refinement at all. When I open the valves on the F12 the sound volume never feels too loud , is very refined across all the rev. range and IMO sounds much better than with the valves closed.

When the car get hot it seems to pop more with the valves open, when you let off the gas. It can be fitted at home if you have a ramp but I would recommend dealer fit, they had to take the rear bumper with camera and parking sensors on, and hard wire it in to the loom, not a job I would want to do.

Guys, let me hijack my own thread - have any of you F12 owners ever tracked?
I have extensively tracked several Ferraris but never a 12 cylinder

Have the Capristo switch on my F12. Love it. All the optionality of open when you want it and not when you don't.

Yes, I tracked the FF once and compared to my 430 I found the front a lot heavier when doing tight corners not to mention needing to replace the front tires more so then on the 430 after a track day. Still a blast and the straight aways seem much shorter in the FF.

I’ve tracked both the F12 and FF. Like asphaltca suggested, both are fun but you really feel the extra 600 lbs on the FF. I honestly don’t track any of the street Ferraris as much anymore since buying and racing a 1,300 lb Radical SR3 RSX. However, I am looking forward to trying the Pista on track when it arrives in 2019.

Last year I tracked my F12 on a circuit that was used for formula 1 racing during many years. It was a wet day with light rain falls but the track was very wet and I risked by starting with the mannetino in race. I entered the track and managed the first four curves without any problems but while exiting the fifth curve after putting only a gentle pressure on the accelerator, the rear went completely out of control and all over the place. Managed to avoid a spin and the gravel and kept the car on the tarmac but that was a premonitory of on how quickly the f12 can go out of control on the wet. The rest of the day was with the mannetino on wet or sport and I didn't experience any more losses of control. Because of the conditions the long straight was the only place where one could put the accelerator to the bottom and feel a bit of adrenalin. On this circuit on dry conditions the formula one's arrive to the end of the straight 100 meters braking mark at around 300 Km/hour and on that day everyone was braking at the 300 meter mark and the F12 was achieving a maximum speed of around 260 Km/hour at the end of the straight.
I'm looking forward tracking it again on the same circuit but on dry conditions.

Thanks gentlemen, I don't track in the rain because I have been using hosiers (sp) on my Scud and it would be a disaster - I now remember that when the 599 HGTE came out Ferrari invited to tryout on the track - could not believe how it handled compared to the Scud - the ride along Ferrari guy kept telling me to brake way earlier then I ever had - think I made him nervous so only did 2 laps - very disappointed in the handling but of course they are 2 different cars

Also, I would not track the F12 like I did the Scud - I'm 73 and how many more track days do I have ? I'm really looking for a high end cruiser and not care about miles

Yes, you definitely can. You could do the Capristo Remote, or the Novitec Switch.

Here’s a video of the Novitec Switch. The 20 second mark is when the switch can be seen. Please ignore the 458.
