    Hey everyone,

I have a late 2014 F12, I started the car one day after only 1500 miles on the car and a light appeared on the dash "Engine Management Failure - Contact Dealer" So I called the dealer, they collected it on a truck and called me the following day saying they didn't know what the problem was! A few days go by and they say a "Charcoal Atomiser" is leaking? Has anyone heard of this and what do you think? (Sounds weird to me)

The technician also said on the phone "when an F12 starts it doesn't run on fuel it starts on fumes" I personally think this is rubbish - a V12 with that kind of compression needs some
    power!

Anyway I am hoping anyone here can help shed some light on the situation - it also sounds really odd to me.

    Many thanks

    James

There is a charcoal canister in the fuel system as part of your emission system. It takes fuel vapors and absorbs them and prevents the fuel vapor entering the atmosphere. If the canister is leaking it will set off a code. Every recent car has a charcoal canister for this purpose.

Many thanks Arnie, you seem to know what you are talking about 😊 have you had any experience with this or know any other F12/Ferrari owners who have experienced this?

    Thanks for the help,

I have heard of this in other cars not in a ferrari. Usually the system is not pressurized because of leak in a hose or the canister which throws the code. it is an emission issue and should not effect the performance of the car.

In older cars the charcoal gets depleted and needs to be replaced usually after a 100,000 miles.

I would make very sure that technician NEVER touches your Ferrari!

Today I replaced my purge valves, one on the right side passenger wheel housing has some carbon charcoal stuck in it causing P1437 code large emission valve leakage.
I replaced both valves but still has a code of P0422 small leak.

I assumed it's the charcoal canister and will order it soon.
I talked to my Ferrari Tech and he said usually this is caused by overfilling gas, then have the car sit for too long without driving.

The tech probably needs to better understand the V12. I have had to replace the Fuel Vapor filter on my F12 due to it being a bit wet with gas, and was causing fuel smell issues in the garage. The part is close to $600USD or may vary I'm guessing, but wasn't anything bad service wise. I did not get the engine management failure light when I was having issues, I just noticed a gas smell in the garage constantly after driving.
