Hi team, I need to figure out where the power connections run through the F12 for the exhaust solonoids. I took my car for service and got the plugs changed. Since I got it back exhaust valves are full open and never closed. Initial testing has no 12v signal on exhaust solonoids so it could be a fuse from the ecu or a looose connection any tips on electrical diagrams for an f12 or photos of where the loom here comes from my understanding is that the valves are closed when the solonoids are powered via the ecu and then at 4k rpm etc it will drop power to them so they open up the exhaust there is always vacuum from the engine to pull them shut. yes the solonoids are connected and I have vacuum there too. thanks
Haha. It’s actually too loud with the valves open. Just need to figure out how a service tech disconnected the power connection to the valves while changing spark plugs, oil and filters.
Nice idea but at this point I want to fix it myself and then say you ****ed up this and you ****ed up that on my car as I don’t trust them to sort it.
A wiring diagram would help as I could check if there is any loose connectors between the ecu and the solenoids
I have no wiring diagram, sorry. If you read my post I was asking the OP to share his if he gets a hold of them. I don't think this is likely to happen but it sure would be valuable to long time owners.
I'm sure there is a disconnect to the solenoid when they put down the rear underground to check the gear box oil level. Daniel
Update: Removed the rear bumper to properly inspect and check the vacuum is at the solenoids and power at the solenoids plugs. Found a dodgy plug connection going into solenoid. Cleaned with contact cleaner and put back in. All working again. Both solenoids have 22ohms across them, there is 13.8v at solenoid plug connection when car running/idle, it also had 8v with only the ignition on but that wasn’t enough to activate the solenoid. Lost some time tracing the cable through the rear wheel arch and under the sill of the car up near front not far from below the battery, there are no connectors in that section of the loom which is a 2 core in a plastic covering. I suspect the same cable runs down the other side of the car too.
Excellent. Thank you for posting your results. Was there obvious intrusion into the connection from rain driving?
Yes, results are always helpful not only for myself but anyone else facing similar issues. obvious corrosion on the contacts. They do fit tight, I might try a dielectric grease to assist in repelling moisture from the connectors. There is a decent amount of dirt / spray right up the rear of the car under the rear bumper so I suspect the rain manages to get around here at times. (Like most Ferrari owners I don’t choose to drive in the rain but do get caught in it from time to time)
There is no disconnect on the f12 for the solenoids. I have traced the 2core solenoid cable from the rear of the car, around the inner rear guard and down the Lower sill to the front. This may be different in other models. Thanks again for the suggestion.
