Ferrari LaFerrari Spider coming next year - report F12 was released in late 2012 as a 2013 model. The article states that there will be a "facelift" and engine update in 2016. Since when do Ferraris get facelifts in the middle of their usual 5 year product cycle? They usually completely change the car every 5 years, right? I just ordered my F12. Wont get delivery till October. Was anticipating at least 2.5 years before seeing the replacement car at one of the big car shows (i.e. Frankfurt or Geneva)... Would suck if they change the car only a year after i ordered mine.
It is impossible to have the best new Ferrari, when you get yours it will already have its replacement on FChat . Rick
My thoughts exactly... I currently have an F12 in silverstone, wanted to trade for a matte white one but by the time it came from the factory a new one MIGHT be around the corner. Might just keep the silverstone and wait for the next "limited run" variant. Feels like the car just came out yesterday!
In the future, perhaps F12 successor's successor (after 2020), V12 engine will continue to use it? Assume that it will, FERRARI will develop a new engine?, Or continue to use the old engine (used in the ENZO, 599, FF , F12, LaFerrari the F140 engine)?
A link is here somewhere on the forum. But the new plan unveiled by the Fiat board is that now a Ferrari model will have a four year cycle followed by a 'M' version for another 4 years, totaling 8 years.
I think if they are going to bump FF power to 700, then the gap to 730 is too small and they will have to move it to something like 780 on the F12. If you change the power you also have to modify the look a little bit. Its all how the product lineup fits together. The thing is F12 is still hard to get and will probably be hard to get when the M comes on line so I don't think it will kill you if you have a new F12 now. If you wait for a few years into the M version then yes, you will feel it in the depreciation.
I have been waiting to get an F12 for some time still do not have a slot and am getting tired of waiting so am now real close to buying a 599 GTO instead .. of course if a slot freed up I would jump on it.. if I buy the GTO (have one all picked out ) and am on the verge of doing it.... I know I would love either one but...(trying to justify both but .....) hell of a problem to have .... what to do LarryH
Larry, I say don't settle. Get what you want. I think the F12 is a better all arounder and the GTO is more visceral.
I think your answer is right there in your statement of your dilemma. The 599GTO is a beast, but you want an F12. Get the F12.
Larry I know that a few ferrari owners in USA have bought their cars in my country,Chile. Why? Because here you always have a slot for all ferrari models with no big wait.( the chilean ferrari market is not as big as yours) For example 458 italia takes 5 month to arrive and similar waiting time for the F12. If this works for you let me know how I can help you. Best
Larry, Do not hesitate and go for the GTO. You will not regret it at all. Got mine back yesterday after it was in for it's annual maintenance and I feel alive again. She was gone for 2 weeks but so happy she is back in the stable. Buy the GTO and drive it as often as you can. Cheers, M
Go for used F12. I have seen some available now, with very low mileage and good options. Your local dealer is playing cat and mouse with you. Shouldn't make customer to wait that long, get a used one, and drive it to them for maintenance. When they see it, all they can say is "OMG, what the....." The 599 GTO sounds better, but the problem is that it looks exactly like the 599 GTB Fiorano, which is half price.
IMHO, if you can only have one. Go for the F12. It all depends on what you need; daily drive or weekend fun. GTO is a fantastic track car but for normal using, I always take either my F12 or the FF.
If that's all you got from the GTO you surely missed the point. It's like saying the only difference between a 360 Modena and a Challenge Stradale is that the CS makes a bit more noise and has a stripe.
