maybe i am missing something but it looks like minor damage? nothing wrong with a minor accident just get the discount up front?
The main point is that the car was sold at a salvage copartt action and now none of that shows up on the carfax. Very odd
You won. It went for 157,000. But a lot of unanswered questions about the buy back and why the car was at the dealer.
coparts can sell non-salvaged titles and it apparently looks like this was one of them. minor accidents typically 10% off FMV like a rear end in parking lot etc. carfax shows the accident in 2021 but clear title no salvage or brands
Bottom line car had red flags and wouldn’t touch the with a 10 foot pole. You buy at a discount, but I’m not a fan when someone sales a car and not disclose in the advertising.
You are 100% right on that auction. The seller did not disclose a lot of stuff, and the buyback sticker was not fully disclosed. If you do a VIN check on the car, the BAT auction comes first, so the buyback is not hidden. Also, I found through classic.com that the car has been sold in 2021 for $150,000. Finally, the seller never disclosed why the car was in Ferrari for repair in 2024 when it was supposed to have been bought back - too many unanswered questions on a low spec, high mile - modified car with a buyback. I think the car could have commanded more if that seller took it seriously and answered everyone's questions - in th been too many unknowns
I don't understand why the car would wind up in a Copart auction if it was a "minor" accident only - why wouldn't the insurance just pay for it?
copart is trying to move into the manheim space, repos, etc. my buddy owns a few repair shops. cars get totaled out for all sorts of reason outside of major damage. sometimes a part is not available. PITA customer. often it's cheaper to just total it then repair once you consider what they are recouping at auction.
Mark Motors has one of my old F12’s and has had it for quite some time. I can’t believe it won’t sell. They powder coated the 812 wheels black from silver but other than that, it was a great car.
I see that car now on their website. Do you have any idea why the price is so low? Any issue with the car other than the miles?
No issues that I know of. I bought it from RSM motors in Ohio. 2nd F12 I bought from him and both were solid cars.
If I can find another job this summer and get settled back in after April, I may look at getting it back again.
My guess would be the miles and high number of owners on carfax, maybe lack of interior carbon? But it does have the racing seats, leather/alcantara trim throughout, and tdf wheels. So I would say it's a pretty good spec overall.
I posted this same question in another thread but I think this is the better one for it. I’m in the market for an f12 or 812 and I have also looked recently alts what has been advertised as the lowest mileage f12 online owned by a dealer. The price is high (been talked about on Fchat) and talking with the SA I was told to be a collectors car who died. The car had some front end damage that required a respray and underside body panel replacement and needed leather work, sticky button repair and tires, so mostly cosmetic stuff. My concern however is with lack of any records it appears the car just sat unused for years (maybe since 2017) and did not appear to get any service done or at least there are no available records . Obviously while I can pay for CPO I think we all know that CPO doesn’t cover everything especially for any wear and tear issues. I have a friend that had a persistent oil leak on a CPO FF that was due to worn gaskets that ended up costing him 25k to repair. Sounds like used f12 have some known issues (paint and corrosion, alternators). Anything I’m missing here? I have only spec new Ferraris in the past so the used market is a little unfamiliar to me but many friends advise a lot of caution with barely used cars that have sat for over a decade without much use. I do have a 12 cylindri spec’d for next year so maybe the 812 would be a better placeholder ?
Just say no. Barring the unforeseen expenses to come- there will always be questions. Having owned both... 812, 812, 812! (The f12 has a great engine).
