I got to about 500 miles today, so thought I would check the oil on the F12. The owners manual is VERY specific how this must be done, and it takes at least 6 minutes, in reality more just to check oil.

I'm used to dry sump cars, but this is, by far, the most complex procedure I've ever had for checking engine oil.

Well, the good news is my F12 didn't use oil in break-in.

Really, really love this car. It's becoming addictive....500 miles in two weeks and want to drive more.

Is it as fast as you expected or had you already driven one prior to purchase. I have one on order and deliberately chose not to test drive an example as I enjoy the anticipation. My previous Ferrari was a 599 HGTE, but I know the F12 is on a different performance level.

It is faster than anything I could have expected or wanted. I race cars, and I was still unprepared for this. Getting the hang of it and starting to play a little more, starting to let the tail hang out a bit coming out of corners.....this car demands skills and respect imo.

I also thought it was strange. I believe that the 6 minutes is just to check. Need to repeat same procedure to add!

Just logged over 2000 miles on my '16 and went through the oil check...level perfect.
Dealer said these engines don't use oil much.

    What a machine.
Agree with remark about them requiring respect. I have PZeros....and hate them...can't wait to switch out to MPSS....

I love that! Nothing better than learning how to control the backend and having fun through corners. This is the most fun you can have off track. Glad to hear you are enjoying it!

FF is the same. An elaborate bizarre procedure. Good news: at 10K miles it has yet to use any oil, which has the viscosity of molasses.

I have had both, and my experience is that you are trading one problem for another.

PZero- shorter tire life, worse traction
    MPSS- much worse tramlining.

Bizarre. I actually think the tram-lining is worse with PZeros. FF not F12.
