After much thinking, I was originally planing on getting the 458 Speciale, but after the help of this board and a test drive in both cars, i decided on the F12. Here is the spec (ordered this week and delivery planned for July - it's my first ferrari)

    Griglio Silverston
    Black leather
    Yellow rev counter
    Roof in Alcantara
    Griglio Scuro brake calipers
Carbon fiber driving zone and LED's
    Carbon cup holder
    Carbon center caps
    Cavalini on head rest charcoal
wing mirrors in black (the lower part)
    thermo insulated windscreen
    Ferrari logos on the side
    Rear parking camera
    Front parking camera dual view
    Passenger display
    20" griglio Corsa forged rims
    Full electric seats
    Hi-FI system
    Stiching in charcoal

The only option I had a doubt on was the lift, but this option requires the AFS light option.... And not sure how many times I would use this.... Did any of you chose this option? Useful?

Next step is to order the exhaust, thinking of IPE or Armytrix.

A great spec. You will be delighted (as will Traveler)... and excited when the time draws near.

Just one cautionary note which might be all wet. The yellow tach in my 458 is virtually unreadable in many daylight conditions. It is not backlit and sits in a long dark tunnel that is not illuminated. I don't know if the F12 has as long a tunnel but you might ask owners here about their experience. Or check one out yourself. As I say it may be a red herring in the F12, but based on my experience I ordered a white tach in my FF, which is just fine.

I am delighted with mine except after the 458 I currently find it just too much for the UK roads unless you know them very well. I never found this with my 458. Unbelievable engine and to me, such a step up and am sure you will love it. I too have the yellow tac and whilst it does sit in a deep tunnel find no problem as I rarely use it, relying on the LEDs in the wheel.

Congratulations, what a first F car

    Congratulations as well.

We had a yellow tach on 458; agree, hard to see. Have black on the F12 and, while not as colorful, it works better if you actually want to use it.

We swear by AFS. It works. We live where there are a lot of very narrow, twisty roads and at night they are clearly helpful. If you live in a grid-pattern, urban location you might never need it or notice (eg. Los Angeles, Las Vegas). We have on our BMW as well - it's one of those options once you have you won't want to live without again.

Lift? We had on 458, have on FF, not on F12. Rarely used it or needed it.

    Enjoy the car, it's phenomenal

Goddam... there are average days and there are the days when you exit the dealership with the Spec Sheet of a V12 Ferrari in your hand... the wait must be nightmarish... But what a hell of a summer it's going to be... Enjoy.

I was in ferrari of Palm Beach a couple of days ago and on the floor was a F12 waiting to be delivered .. and it was fairly lightly optioned black with black leather and alcantara interior with std alum accents (i.e. no carbon ) on the interior it had the leather headliner and rear bulk head etc. alum with silver stitching and calipers .. on the std seats .... also silver stitched horses on the headrest... The car was stunning ...
although I have only seen a couple of F12s this was very nice....really made me think
    also had the dark wheels....

Congratulations. AFS is the kind of thing you wonder about when you've never had a car with it. Once you do, its hard to go back. I file it under "very nice to have" but not under "must have".

Hi, that is just great news, congrats.

I'm new here, but the July delivery date you mentioned caught my eye. And elsewhere I think I saw that a forum member walked into a dealership and purchased one out of inventory.

What am I doing wrong? I initiated my own F12 process late in 2013 and I'm not expecting to take delivery until early 2015.

Is this the "first time buyer" thing that you sometimes hear about (this would be my first)?

If that's what it is, guess I'll just have to buy another one in the future.

I walked in as 1st time buyer in December 2013, and bought a car that month. Car to my order has just been delivered - 12 weeks order to delivery.

Thanks for all the answers and positive comments.

To answer a few of the questions:

    - I am based in Switzerland
    - This is my first ferrari purchase
    - Ordered the car last week and been quoted a delivery for July, I have a great dealer (very highly ranked in terms of Ferrari sales in Europe (may help for delivery time?)
    - As for the exhaust, my dealer doesn't really care, I actually asked his opinion on what he thought on both exhausts (waiting on his reply). He did say the Novitec wasn't that good and currently testing an Akrapovic setup. Armytrix don't have the full exhaust available yet, so may not be able to order this one.
    - AFS lights, don't really care about them, I am more interested in the lift in case I need to go over speed bumps. I have the AFS lights on all my mercs, love the option, but doesn't make the driving experience any more involving.

Congrats! Spec sounds incredible. Only thing I'm personally not a big fan of are the carbon wheel caps, I like the yellow that comes standard as it gives a nice definition to the wheels.

3-4 months for delivery is very good, I'd say. Certainly better than what the Americans get!

It could be "first time buyer has to wait", for sure.

You also live in NYC - so even though there are 3 dealers, there are a lot of long-time buyers in line ahead of you.

Last, it really appears that F12 allocations have been on a slow trickle...we just got ours and it was the first one in a few months, though a couple more have just come in.

FWIW, FNA provides allocations only out a few months in advance - so dealers in April will be getting their June build allocations, those cars started in June will likely arrive in October depending on production sequencing and ship schedules. So, if you are thinking early '15 delivery, that's a dealer projection, not a hard allocation....you could move up quicker if FNA loosens up supply or people drop out

my order officially went in on 24 March '14, i will receive my car end-June/Early-July '14 - i have 3-layer outside "norm" paint. my opinion is that it's based on the market you are in; of course if you are a "regular" it helps, but some of you gents are talking "years" of waiting which doesn't make sense.

IMHO the yellow centre-caps as opposed to CF ones are a very nice compliment to the yellow SF badges on the wings

Re exhaust: Have a good look at Capristo before you pull the trigger on any of the others

Thanks Entropy, that's helpful information. I really don't mind the wait, anticipation has its own distinct pleasures, like watching others enjoy taking delivery of theirs.

The yellow ones look nice, I do agree. But I want the whole rim to be black, and on the dealers configurator it looked better IMO.

I will have a look at the capristo setup.... But must admit I am the most impressed by the armytrix setup.
