Actually I have a 458 italia in Florida and never saw a F12 in person because I don't live in the US and although I go very frequent, I've been searching for one at some dealers with no luck.

Since I only see the cars in pictures, the design and appearance does not kill me. I don't know if my mind will change when I see the first one in front of me. I think the 458 looks a lot more aggressive and stunning. Obviously what really kills me about the F12 is the engine. What do you guys think?

Actually I have one year (very happy) with my car. Recently I started talking with the salesman at Ferrari Fort Lauderdale about getting a new F12. He told me it will be very difficult because the waiting list is very long but trading my actual 458 for another Italia or Spider will help a lot in having a chance for the F12. What do you guys think about it? Can be true or just bull**** to get some money for the dealer?

PD: sorry for my bad english

In another thread a 458 and F12 owner said something like his 458 has become boring now. I sat in an F12 a few months ago. It was beautiful. I drove a 458 and although more powerful and louder than my California the 458 was not overwelmingly better than the Cali along with the foot well was much smaller, no left foot space. My FF on the other hand makes my Cali very boring and after a drive in a 458 spider a few weeks ago I was happier in my FF. And the F12 would be another level BETTER than the FF!! Although my model airplanes will not fit well in the FF I think. The sound of that V12 is really amazing, both the exhaust and the haunting intake sounds.

It is our curse to get bored with all things -- including beautiful women and Ferraris. Still we pursue them. :)

I own a 458 and drove the F12....iMO they are not comparable....I would not trade my 458 for the F12....it's a personal choice and others may feel different but for me the F12 didn't have the soul of my 458....

I'm quite certain neither have a "soul" but I get what you are saying. One is a GT that happens to go rip roaring fast, faster than their "racier" car in fact. The other is more of a connected track fiend that feels great throwing it into a corner.
It's really a matter of choice and what you plan on doing with it. If I was going to do a lot of driving and not just weekend warrior stuff, the F12 easily wins. If it was just to whip around corners on a Saturday morning, then the 458 is more than enough.
The engine is certainly something special though. Unique power curve to be sure. (Hint: It's not a curve)
In regards to the dealer. Yeah he's telling you the truth.

Your dealer is accurate. You can really increase your chances if you would buy an FF.

I've driven both and the F12 is very much like the 458 with 150 more HP and a better exhaust note.

    Not bad at all!

Honestly, inside its very much the same feeling but the car has a lot more power. The interior IMO is better looking with better details.

It uses the same steering wheel and many of the same instruments. The AC vents work much better though.

The only thing I think against it would be depreciation. But, even 458's are dropping now so that may not be such a factor.

The more you have the more you'll get bored!

    That’s life.

There’s only a way to make you gain new perspective. Getting really scared to risk losing what you've achieved. That’s a good way to revalorize what’s yours.

my 458 feels just a little 'thin' after spending time in my f12.

no comparison, really. the only (brief periods of time) time i want to be in my spider over my f12 is on a perfect summers day on a fast, blast of a drive on back roads. otherwise its all f12.

What I love the most in F12 it’s its ability for heavy winter.

Also love the fact that I haven’t heavy winters and since I’m not a F12 owner either, I can full enjoy my 458 spider without any dilemma. :)

Never driven a 458. But a big yes to the F12! I've only owned and driven older Ferrari's ( '65 to '85 ), Anyway. The 458 gearbox is a technological masterpiece. The lightening up & downshifts are unbelievably smooth. (Maybe the 458 is as good - don't know). Also, I love how quiet the car is at cruise, and calm at speed. Top Gear made it out to be twichy, and I didn't get that impression. It does steer more quickly than my old stuff. The sound at cruise and when accelerating is a symphony. In a tunnel -- - - got a cigarette :) I'm curious as to production numbers. At ~400k (360K base + a whole bunch of $DMV) I'd guess it won't be mass produced, or produced for the masses - I have no idea. Bottom line (IMHO) Loved it!!
