Marcel, Is it me or does the TDF in the picture with the lady not have the flaps in front of the gills on the lower front bumper cover? It appeared that they were all of the same car at the same event but one could be Modena and the other Tri-color? Anyway, there must be more out there with some more pre-production variants. Perhaps it looked too much like the Jaguar front end or maybe its slightly better (or worse) aero.
Former GM design chief Chuck Jordan's love of Ferraris (he owned a Lusso and Daytona among others) is probably not coincidental in this.
Let me assure you, despite not being at Mugello, that it is just you! Look carefully, they are there.
Yeah I agree an awsome feature, probably my favourite of the tdf. With the arch filled with smoke from the tyres you got to see the function of these when they will disburse heat from tyres and brakes.
The foundational F12 of course does that trick too, if you're so inclined; the rear vents are just in a slightly different location.
Those vents are not there in order to dissipate heat. Their function is to lower the air pressure inside the arches, thus cutting lift.
At 2:48 it shows a very interesting angle for the Aero Bridges... that carbon part was quite mysterious for me . Now I see it clearly
Spent the morning last Monday with my wife at the factory specing the TDF, and was at Mugello this weekend driving. We went very different than our previous cars, and were able to benefit from some great advice and insights from Anna Lenzi (head of Atelier program). We picked a handful of special requests and extra campionario items to personalize the car a bit more, but overall kept it a mix of wild and mild. We did see 3 TDFs on the local roads being driven, and about 5 of them in production - all customer cars. A couple were completed, so I'd imagine deliveries are imminent at least in Europe. A few Rosso Corsa, a blue (I think TDF), Giallo Modena (not Tri Strato) and a black. The "original" car is in the TriStrato, and apparently has some minor (i.e. hard to detect) differences from the final articles. We were able to get in/on/under the car, both in the showroom as well as at various points in production. There are quite a few TDF engines in assembly (along with a handful of LaF engines). As for the wheels, the current version is the only version, more potentially to come as aftermarket, but an increasing variety of finishes possible (we saw a few). They also added another round of available options last week, including Apple CarPlay among others. While we saw the car at Pebble Beach, seeing it again in person and hearing it on the roads convinced us that this is going to be a great car and were excited, and consider ourselves very lucky. Last, while we were at Fiorano, the Giallo Tri Strato car was lapping with the filming truck, doing some hard acceleration and passing. This was part of the video shown at Mugello. As for the seats, they are the "same" seats (structure, design), though now in more variations (Daytona, Tech Fabric, Alcantara). As of last week, the "Goldrake" and "Style" were not available as options, however I'd anticipate the options list will grow AND you can always request something special.
Thanks for your informative post. I will probably spec CarPlay now it is available but can you recall the other new options? Also, can you give us a hint of your spec, at least principle colours?
Named after racing glory in the 50's Looks like a GTO of the 60's Sounds like an F-1 car of the 70's Probably the best looking front engine Ferrari car since the 275 GTB
Entropy congrats to you on the TdF!! Looking foward to your comments on the car once you've driven it a bit, especially in the context of other fine cars you've had. And post lots of pics, please!!
