Please can you tell me if your trunk lights are on when you have the car on charge?

I normally attached the cable and close the trunk 1 click so it does not pinch the cable.

Yesterday it was a dark day, I had finished cleaning the car and was putting the cover on and just noticed a small light on through the gap between the rear glass and divider panel.

After checking by sitting inside the car I notice that both the 2 tunk lights were on and the trunk lid light was still on and not going out, even after some time and were getting hot. I have never noticed this before.

I had to lower the driver’s window put the cable through there and fully close the trunk to turn them off.

Has anyone else noticed this or is there a fault with my car?

maybe it's because yours is partially closed one click? the lights always go off after a few minutes for me. I just lower the hatch and don't engage the locking mechanism at all. it's also a safety mechanism. if I leave the hatch open, the car doesn't allow the engine to start so I don't back out while having it plugged in.

I plug in the trickle charger through my driver's side window, leave the trunk lid closed....

Thanks tried that with no luck.
Just had a new battery fitted, so tried the reset procedure by disconnecting the battery and following instructions below, with no luck.
Do you know if the garage have to tell the cars software it has a new battery ?

+1 This way works for me as well.

And I also changed the battery by myself without any garage intervention (on the FF on wich I do the same procedure with the rear hatch when plug it) with no issue at all.

It's surprising your lights do not get off after a few minutes...

No need to click the hatch. Lights go out shortly by themselves.

On my F12 I follow the instructions and always close the the trunk/boot hatch fully on the cable, making sure it exits the trunk in the corner as indicated in the manual.

there's no ecu programming after battery change from what i read on the shop manual. just need to wait couple minutes before switching key to "on" then another minute before you start the engine.

does the light go out when you close the hatch fully? if not, maybe it's your hatch open switch?

Just fully close the hatchback on the cable. I did it for years and no issues.

There is an additional procedure involving the remote key and also the cabin windows (see owners manual). Additionally, if the ambient temperature falls below a set value the car will have to relearn the idle settings which is done automatically but takes time.

I have just found out from the dealer that the lights go out after 1/2 an hour, which seems like a long time as the cabin lights go out a couple of mins.
So no need to close the trunk/boot fully and risk pinching the cable.:)

CTEK sells a cable that connects directly to the battery and has a charger female reception plug for CTEK chargers so you can trickle charge the battery directly from under the hood in an F12. The cable is about 10 inches long and has a cap that protects it when not in use. The cable neatly lays on the battery cover when not in use. I find it easier to use then finding the port in the rear and charging under the hood does not affect any accessories like lighting. It’s available on Amazon and easy to install (5minutes). Works great!

I also leave mine on the trickle charge but never close the trunk fully. Just lower it as many have said and my lights always go out after a few minutes.
