looks like an alfa romeo 8c V8...4700cc - 450 Hp....
Looks sharp. I agree, the potential convertible configuration will boost the car in the market. And based on the drawing I think it's much better looking than the F430 or 599, although I'm sure things could change prior to production. Yes - I'd forgotten what the blue pill was for.
I think the few spy photos that have been floating around here look great, Im looking forward to seeing more! Does anyone have any NEW info on this car??? Best, Jon
l got it from our italian friends. We can be quite sure about the 4.7l V8, it sounds pretty familiar (8c) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgZpgndQlgM ... and the hp rating of 480hp makes sense. However, I can imagine it having around 500hp as well.
guys if it costs around or less than 430 and hard top nobody gonna buy 430 anymore and all 430 prices will dip **** why the hell ferrari doing something to 430 owners like this i have f430 spyder nobody gonna but 430 spyder anymore this is idiot
I believe that 430 and its replacement will always be for people who want mid-engine hard-core Ferrari sports cars. 149 is rumored to be a front engine GT, which is aimed at a somewhat different market. There will always be some overlap however.
Hi Guys Just been told that the engine will be 4.7ltr and that the car will have a latest generation double clutch. Car is front engined. I asked how does this fit in with the F430. Was told that Ferrari have thought about it and the directive is that this car comes to the Paris motor show this year and first cars to be delivered Jan 09 with a steady flow from March 09. F430 will be replaced 3rd Qtr 2009. Thanks Mike
I wonder if there's any connection of this 4.7ltr engine to Maserati's new GranTurismo S 4.7 ltr engine (which produces 434 HP). sting
Almost certainly yes, I would expect that the block will be the same but the heads will be unique to the Ferrari (as with the 4.2 in the Maserati and the current 430s V8). I would guess that the Ferrari might have direct injection as well.
The block casting is the same but everything else is different. The Ferrari engine should feature a flat crank V8 designed for high revs and sharp throttle response as is in Ferrari's tradition. The Maserati (and Alfa) engines have cruciform V8 (i.e. like traditional American V8s) which favors low-end torque. This differentiation will justify the +50HP that the F149 will have compared to the Maserati/Alfa engine.
Well said DM... Just catching up after many months on the road (not been in my bed since Sep 26, 07) & if it could look & sound stunning too, please!
The youtube vid of the mulletto a few posts back didn't sound like it had a flat plane crank, more rumbly like a traditional V8
I agree. Sounds good, but not flat-crank good. Wonder if the balancing of the flat crank becomes an issue with the larger displacement - certainly doesn't help.
Not totally relevant to F149, but just saw this on the BBC: An environmentally friendly 'sports' car, apologies not F... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7265267.stm
I'm absolutely shocked that no one else sees a little DB9 in the second photoshop posted in the thread. Car looks fantastic, the mule with the gigantic clamshell in the back doesn't.
