I thought that it was interesting that Mattel has announced a Hot Wheels Super Elite model on the new Dino/F149?

Wow, this thing is like the automotive version of a ghillie suit... lol, love the HEAVY camo!

The 612 front bumper is a nice touch too... "Yeah, take the 612 bumper from the junk pile..just tape it on." In reality the thing probably costs thousands of dollars. Thats passion for you.

Hard to tell exactly under the camo but this looks like its going to be a smaller car compared to Ferrari's current offerings. A good thing IMO

Looks extremely tall at the front, hopefully that is just camo but judging from the wheel/arch relationship it doesnt look promising

I wonder if that is related to the new Euro pedestrian impact standards?

This is a real design issue. The clearance between the hood and the engine having to increase to provide a Pedestrian crumple Zone gives all cars that have to meet this standard a very high nose.

A potential solution is a Mid engined 2+2. Stay tuned...

Pics in post 155 don't really look like a mid-engine configuration. In any case, I'm sure this will be a front mid-engine, with the engine set back, so plenty of room from bumper to engine.

Hope the front looks like this pininfarina sketch for the 599:

Are you saying what I think you're saying? "The Mondial 8 Re-imagined"?

Let me say that some, and I'm not saying who, are thinking along those lines to solve the issue of Pedestrian Safety in a 2+2. Your reference to the Mondial is a good one. Here's a solution I suggested, similar to the great classic speedboats:

Excellent, I hope that would be the case. Jim, knowing your connections, and I know you can't say much, but what is your feeling in terms of Ferrari's styling going forward? Thanks.

As an Italian petrol head and Ferrari nut I'd like to ask you a question. Do you think that Ferrari will be able continue producing petrol cars therefore maintaining its 'vroom vroom' factor regardless of these increasingly stringent emission laws? Or should us Ferraristi get used the possibility that this will soon all be history as we'll have to get used to the buzzing of electric engines or whatnot?

The sole prospect of such an eventuality is depressing to say the least...

I think liquid hydrocarbon powered cars will be around for a while. I do think Ferrari's will be greener. I think we'll see Turbo's and other changes such as reversing inlet/exhaust for greater efficiency/packaging. We may see regulations that will effect the cars as we know them, pedestrian safety for example and Euro 5 engine stop/start requirements. I think the changes will take place over time but one day the car as we've known it will be different.

    Enjoy every day!

I agree, and really you only need to look at the modern cars versus the older cars to see this also. Park a 599 next to a Daytona, and while they both have four wheels, 12 cylinders, and two doors, most everything else is quite different-- and often in ways you can't see.

I suspect that if you park a 2028 Ferrari next to that 599, the same thing will be true-- and yet, over the time frame, the changes will seem to be subtle.

Thank you for your kind reply.

So do you think that Ferrari is destined to loose its mind-blowing sound eventually?

I was hoping you'd say something along the lines of 'don't worry, Ferrari will find a way around these problems...and red ones will scream on'...but I guess I should start facing reality. I feel so disenchanted. I don't know whether to be overjoyed by the possibility that our family's first F-car (probably a 612 HGTC) might be coming in the next year or two, or to despair in front of the eventuality that Ferrari, my passion since early childhood, might be mutilated by politics.

    *sigh*

I wish I was born thirty years earlier...
