The only thing I know of is that this person has a connection from the factory (his quote : "I got it straight from someboby connected with the factoy in Maranello").

He has some other items as well -

Quotes from an email - "an engine valve cover plate from the 1999 Mclaren Mercedes car of Mika Hakkinen. It is made of some combination of aluminum and titanium. It shows use. I have another one of these I am keeping. These came from Mclaren." (No Pic Yet)

"a damper cover from Jacques Villeneuve's 2000 BAR"

"a 2001 Arrows brake disc with the titanium bell in the center. It is autographed by Jos Verstappen"

His reason for selling the items is that he "picked up a large side pod from Michael's 2000 Ferrari, and I am moving a few pieces to make room for it." I just sent him an email to see about any documentation & also a pic of the M.H. Valve Cover Plate.

Grinnn... yeah... selling that tiny piece of rear wing will make enough room for a side pod... ;-)

Since I don't know the guy, I have no idea if the piece is authentic.

Apparently he is selling all those pieces to make room for it. Last year I had a chance to get some Old BBS Racing Rims with tires off of some Ferrari F1's but he sold them before I could get the money. I met this guy in person last year and he seemed to be legit. When I met him, He had a Carbon Fiber suspension piece on him.

    My thoughts....

There is a deal (or was) where anyone could go to the Ferrari Galleria and buy replica Ferrari F1 parts..and when you mentioned the 2000 sidepod...it got me thinking.

I bought a 1999 Schumacher Front nosecone from the Ferrari Galleria in late 2000. It was made by the Ferrari F1 Dept and an identical one is in the Cavallino restaurant. I think there were sidepods offered as well and rear tail pieces.

The difference between my front nosecone and the "real" front nose cone (even though they are both made by Ferrari) is the quality of the carbon fibre.

This guy could be legit...but having bought alot of junk over the years, I wouldn't pay much for it. I bought the front winglet from Jean Alesi's 1992 car for $250.- in new condition..and they look about the same size

Not to mention that there's a lot of smashed bits out there. Maybe not as many for MS as, say, Sato. But still...:)
