It's not even out yet. Gazzetta reports that F2006 will run at Fiorano on 16 or 17 January. ( closed doors session ) 23rd of January is rumoured as the date. (launch....at Mugello)
Official presentation is on Monday. I know because I talked to FNA about getting press credentials etc. (which they were happy to give me, but my trip fell apart).
Ferrari to unveil new car on Jan. 24 "Ferrari will unveil their new Formula One car at their Mugello test track on January 24, team boss Jean Todt said on Thursday. Todt said that the new car will be tested privately before the official launch possibly as early as Monday."
The launch will be at 10:30. (january 24) On that very day, Schumacher and Massa will start a testprogramme with the new car.
The day's programme is subject to change based on the running of the test session and currently is as follows: -10.30 start of press meeting: divided into two groups with press in the Media Centre and group TV/radio interviews in a specific room. - 13.30 photo session with the 2006 F1 car - 16.30 press conference followed by Ferrari Corse Clienti prize giving
I have a question - one that's probably been answered before, but one that I would have no idea about where to begin searching - for you Ferrari F1 gurus. Why is it that Ferrari traditionally will release their new car mid-season? Obviously, in 2003 & 2004, it wasn't such an issue, but the 2005 season seemed to really underscore how "behind" Ferrari's "last-year car" was behind the rest of the pack. Granted, the new rule changes were also major players, but nonetheless, the team from Maranello pushed up the release of the F2005 to hopefully get back into competitive mode. Now...with this year being the first for V8s, clearly Ferrari won't be running a 10 for the first few races, but will they still run the F2005 chassis with the 2.4L V8 engine mounted and then race the F2006 5 or 6 races into the season?
Ferrari use old cars only because of it's proven reliability and superioty. -Beginning of the 2002 season Ferrari used a modified F2001. -Beginning of the 2003 season Ferrari used a modified F2002. -2004 season they started with the F2004 because F2003 GA wasn't that superior. -Beginning of the 2005 season Ferrari used the F2004M (F2004 car with 05 aero) F2001, F2002, F2003-GA, F2004 and F2005 .....pure evolution. I hope this time we will see a different Ferrari. For 2006 they will start the season with the F2006. The V8 engine does not fit in the F2005 chassis. The V8 is currently in the F2004 for winter test and V10 in the F2005.
That makes sense, but in a way, it seems as though it's a bit of a gamble. They're using a car that *was* reliable and superior over the competition's previous year car, but that's no guarantee how it will perform against their current year's car.
I just cant understand how ferrari can go from being the ultimate force in f1,and then be fighting 15th and 16th position.... I blaim my cursed friend (who shall remain nameless) We went to the first race in australia and what happens it pours rain when michael comes out and he is screwed. It reminds me of the early nineties all over again. But we all have to keep the faith.
Don't forget that prior to using names like F2001, F2005, etc, Ferrari used names like 312, 412, for the F1 cars, so F248 does not too far fetched.
LOL, brilliant! Reminds me of the "disenchanted" hand in Da Vinci's Last Souper. Those suits look just plain idiotic. One would think that a company with so much tradition in all things stylish and Italian would come up with some more elegant corporate suits. Armani anybody?
the debut is on the 23 and 24th at mugello. ferrari owners site has a nice package available. hotel, a couple lunches and dinner, a party or two, pitwalk and meet some of the boys. sounds like fun. anyone going?
