I have my 348 spider on a trickle charger, but it would not start when I tried it. The dash came to life, engine turned a tiny bit and it was clear the battery was dead.

The trickle charger will no longer charge it, and just makes a clicking sound.

Anyone had this happen? Any advice?

I presume I need to replace the battery. Is it in the front left wheelarch?

Anyone know the size and specification of the battery please, if it is needed?

    Thank you.

Before you change out the battery, are you certain it is completely dead/not getting enough charge?

Earlier ones are in the rear, later ones are in the left front wheel arch.

Others will chime in to get a direct replacement, or even a Braille battery. I opted for an AGM from Deka.

    And added SAE terminals:

A bit smaller than factory, but it only weighs 18lbs. Not ultra light, but will run the car sufficiently.

Kai has a lithium battery that is held on by a single zip tie, tiny. Small, lightweight. Entirely up to you.

I would take this battery to AdvanceAuto and let them do a diagnostics. It may be sulfated - no good options other than replace. But have them do this easy and free step first before you buy replacement.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice :)

I had hoped some owner might have experienced the clicking noise the trickle charger is now making when on, and it was a clue - but perhaps now.

    I will investigate the battery.

I got a Bosch for mine the very first week because the Optima Red Top was not connected properly. Lead came off in a turn! Or so I found out. Worked fine. Plenty of power. Only popped the 10A fuse in my Alpine head unit at jump probably because it was still switched on.

Replace the battery with a Lithium Ion and save 25#s of weight.

Sure sounds like a bad battery.
