Can this change be made. & would it be worth it? Has anyone done it & what was involved? I have a 1995 F355 2.7 berlinetta.

So I would guess there is no benefit at all to a 5.2?

It was done for emissions, not power. Since it qualifies for emissions, why on earth would you want to change, since the 95s have about 10 more HP?

Is that the same for a 5.2 with pipes instead of cats?

Plus, I doubt you would feel 10bhp from a 370-380bhp engine (2.5%) is it not low down torque which is most obvious in a 2.7 and if so a 5.2 without cats gets the most benefit low down...

5.2 without cats will just set a check engine light.
That would be tough o explain why you need to do a drive cycle and clear the code before an inspection.

Unless you had a track only car.

2.7 would be my choice, you can chip it for power easily.
OBD2 on the 1996 and up is harder to get around.

Not always true - I have one with no cats and I have no check engine light. I've never had a check engine light since it was done (about 18 months ago now).

As far as the conversion goes, there's obviously an advantage in terms of it being the newest of the two systems (and so they've supposedly ironed out some issues), but that in itself is not necessarily a good reason to do it - especially if the differences are really only centred around emissions. I agree with others - there's no real point to it as the earlier cars are reputed to be slightly more torquey lower down and a little more power at the top end.
