Has anyone had success in locating a replacement for the Upper Foam Gasket for the Evaporator Unit? same part for either an F355 or 348? (62928000)

For something like this I would take a section of the old gasket, find gasket stock that matches, and just make your own. It's not a critical part like a gasket in the fuel or oil system. Close enough is fine.

Just get a water jet cutter to cut one out. Take an applicable piece of foam with the dimensions you need. Done and dusted

Now you're talkin', I like the idea of a water jet cutter. I'm looking to keep it seamless and have the rounded corners. Any thoughts on the type of foam used. It has a smooth top surface and quite dense with memory retention, then there's the adhesive.

You need to use a foam friendly contact adhesive. Or you can use 3M double sided tape.

Sorry guys but you don't use a waterjet to cut a foam gasket. Or a CNC lathe. A razor blade will do just fine.

I've worked with waterjets. You're really going to make a .DXF file and pay for WJ time (which usually runs about $200/hour) for a gasket you could cut out with an X-acto knife and a ruler? It's like killing a house fly with a bazooka.

Just get some single sided black foam self adhesive tape of the right width and height. Put the seam on one of the long straight areas and use a dab of super glue to glue the ends together.

Thanks. Did your vendor specify a price? I still see Nil Stock and POA on parts websites.

After communicating with Ferrari, Eurospares reports that the part is no longer available and there are no alternatives. Timothy, where did you obtain your information?

I say this with love, but you guys are insane. This is a strip of foam that can be obtained anywhere. It does not need to be sourced from magical elves in Maranello. It is a strip of foam. It is completely hidden from view once installed. Because nobody will know that you have completely destroyed the value of your Ferrari, the value of your Ferrari will not actually be destroyed. It will be your little secret. Maybe if you get close enough to the guys you see every weekend at Cars and Coffee you can pull one of them aside and confide in him. Let me tell you something, but if you say a word about this, you'll be sleeping with the fishes. I got the strip of foam for the evaporator unit at Home Depot. You breathe a word about this and it's curtains for you, capiche?

I’d like to see how you handle the corners and the seam using over-the-counter foam.
If shoddy workmanship is good enough for your car, then go for it. ;)

Available at Home Depot for $3. For that price it's worth a shot. :)

Same way you do pin striping with straight tape, I suspect. I the oem is not available then what's to loose for a try? Bette than no seal. I bet if you did order it, it may be a straight piece in itself.

Maybe someone in need will try and report on the result.

Having home depot gasket cut to length with adhesive on one side in a roll would be hilarious....at Ferrari yellow box markup. FWIW, someone redid mine like that...just self stick gasket...unless that's the gasket...I can't find a good picture.

Agreed, if the gaskets were totally disintegrated or missing, this would be an alternative.

In my case, my gasket is in 95% excellent condition. I damaged it when a heat source became too close to it during repair of a suspension actuator.

When I break something I try to fix it. I simply created this post (four plus) years ago to see if someone had a source for this part. Not an unacceptable alternative.

I’m not sure why a simple post such as this has to turn into such an exhausting exchange.

If the part from Ferrari arrived as a straight piece, it would be returned to them. o_O
